This song started life as a 'Scratch Track' to convince our band (at the time) that it could be done in a harder rock style. It was totally rejected by the band and it sat for a year collecting virtual dust. Over the next couple of years, the song evolved. I asked a musical friend - Max Cortez - to play keys on it, which he was kind enough to do for me. I started singing backing vocals and adding lead guitar phrases, a little bit here and there. Eventually, some of my musical friends would contribute to more layers of backing vocals and the song would languish again for over a year with zero updates. This song is literally a sonic patchwork quilt.

Over the past few days, I've found myself suffering from a total creative block, with regards to original material. This morning, I decided to go back over this song and adjust all the volume levels and see if I could get a halfway decent sound out of it.

Here it is for your enjoyment. I mixed it down as a 32 bit float WAV file to maintain HD quality.

I would say, that as Rainbow covers go, it's at least an average effort, though certainly not on-par with the original.

As always, your critiques are welcome...Happy Weekend... :)

Robert, always love your choices of tunes.

Love this song- love is not a strong enough of a word. Really thought was great when it first came out.

Is that you on lead vocals?

Your crazy talent level always shines my friend.

Once again, great job, great choice of what song to cover, and EXCELLENT performance.

When this Covid :poo: show is over, Mrs Steve and I are going to plan a Cali weekend and hopefully meet up with some of my other Cali bros and have us a Von Herndon road trip to one of your shows.

Always play your tracks for my Sheryl, and she can't wait to check you out live. Told me I better get my dancin shoes on!

In my current band, I am just a supporting musician. I am not really allowed to do much in the way of the stuff that comes natural to me. I am super-heavy in my musical tastes and playing and that doesn't always "fit' with certain crowds. On the flip side of this, my bandmates are some of the nicest people to work with of any band I have ever been in, so I stay for the comradery and friendships.

Here's one of out shows from October 10, 2020:

That would be fantastic buddy.

So, I have decided to start studying the works of Yngwie. Its taken me into the study of scales and keys, picking techniques and other black magic that I have always steered away from.

The second lick in this video is my own creation, based on what I am currently learning.

Speed and proficiency will take me some time...
