I‘ve always really, really wanted to like Lenny’s version. As flamboyant as he is, his cover just lacks attitude, balls, sex appeal, and some other stuff (can’t find the right word). It just seems anemic. Maybe it’s because it’s too well produced, and anything raw and untamed was removed.

I mixed for him and the Bellamy Bros, about 5 days in the studio in New Orleans.
Of course the Guess Who was one of my favorite bans when I was growing up. I love Burton Cummings for a vocalist, I miss those days.

I really like Lenny Kravitz, but I thought there was something missing from his version. I can’t put much finger on it, but it’s missing the filth it really needs to put it over the top. He’s like a modern Marc Bolan, and has all the goods. But, I always felt that cover should have been much better.
