Things we do

THATS a great line! I gotta remember that one.

Its a way of life...

You know, it isn't meant to embrace mediocrity or suggest that practice isn't important, it was just something that clicked for me one day.

I had been learning some EVH stuff, and its generally some pretty intricate stuff, but I took a break from practice to have a cup of Joe and relax for a minute.

I switched on YouTube on the TV and AC/DC's video for "Let Me Put My Love Into You" came on.

In that instant, I realized that I could identify musically with what Angus was playing and it seemed very natural to me. I can see the finger positions on the fretboard in my head when I hear Angus play and EVH's stuff doesn't resonate like that with me, but Chris Poland's playing does.

It was then that I decided to abandon all the effort to become a better guitarist and just concentrate on writing songs and performing.

Although I did lower my personal expectations, it was more of a refocus than just abandonment.

If any of that makes sense???

Very cool. Identify with that alot. Think if we embrace what we naturally play vs always trying to cop something else..the reward is playing new things by exploration. The drive becomes to better one self at what we are doing..then something happens natural..the push to become better..its not forced...when you put your guitar down, walk out the room & then like a magnet..it draws you right back..yup its the music you are making that does it.

Lol yeah actually, especially when my little idiot stick ( voltage tester) goes off right before i cut into one. Lots of fireworks :ROFLMAO:
