blink and LRT after nearly a year

Hey Blink all my heavy slop with FX on is all green clean channel, don’t tell Ramo as I would not like to make him mad at me.
But I do cheat and use the Vox Tone Lab for all the dirt and grit.
The last clips I have posted on the one week challenge have been red ultra 2 with a single dsl40c, and the Joyo ultimate drive in front, with gain at 3.
I think it came out with a great tone !!
If the amp's got multichannels, use em i say! I love the green channel as much as the red on the DSL really, especially in crunch mode. But use an Ultimate Drive like you do too, frontloaded. I experiment with it on the clean Green section and turn the pedal gain up about 2/5 of the way. Or roll it down to just above zero but crank the level and tone up on Green Crunch with amp gain at 5 or OD1 with amp gain at about 3 as well. Drives the power tubes at a lower setting and gives it a natural distortion!

I have heard good stuff about that Ultimate Drive, haven't had an opportunity to check one out myself.

I wish i could come and disable all clean channels on your amps so you can only chug :)

i use to use green ch od 1 but found later on it was more hard rock sound, switch to od 2 its more mean. However ive already start thinking about needing jcm800 2210 in my life. Yeas you heard it right “need” lol
Problem is i have to buy is second hand, or shall i go for new reissue jcm 800 2203?

I'll tell you what, LRT has a RI 2203 in the jam room, and he uses his 4100 more often than not. I was seriously considering getting one at one point too, but I don't think it will get quite the sound I'm looking for. Not without some modding anyway. Doesn't like certain pedals (Like the BE-OD) because there's no dedicated clean channel. On the other hand, they take a Tube Screamer type especially well, and the reissue has a loop that an EQ could go a long way in.

I run the BE OD into the clean channel of my DSL because that's where it kicks the most ass. If I were to employ a Tube Screamer, I would use it to boost the red channel....drive down, vol UP!

Well the 2203 is a 100w single channel nonreverb and the gain on them stock is actually a lot tamer than you would believe, kind of a boosted plexi/ green channel crunch on a DSL. Most metal folks ran out and modded the hell out of them or loaded up pedals.

The 2210 is a 50w split channel, little more in the gain department but used clipping diodes to achieve that gain like the Dual Reverbs did. Basically it is a direct precursor to the Dual Reverb.

For your distaste of the clean channels and higher gain focus? Look towards an SLX, what you have in the DSL or even a JVM

Man if i have jcm800 i dont need be-od, its like a having nice woman and bringing the plastic doll :) (if you know what i mean)

jcm800 2210 has 2 ch and fx loop and with boos in front sounds kick ass especially for solos ( your favourites) lol where 2203 its 1 ch but kicks ass big time in crunch and heavy distortion. There this guy on YT does all kind of demos check it out.

I saw Volbeat play a while back, frontman Michael Poulson uses a 2210, and I like the tones he gets! It's pretty old school Marshall but it rips!

No you won't need a BE OD with an 800 because it sounds like poop....I've tried lol That pedal was designed to work best with a dedicated clean channel. But yeah, the 800 series are not a high gain amplifier. That's why guys like Dave Friedman for example exist...they'll take that amp and mod it into a fire-breathing chug machine

Haha i was just getting ready to suggest this same guy to you!! :dood: lasse lambert. He has a wall of Marshalls.

This video is RIGHT up your alley! Great demo on thrash amps
Seen it already, ive seen everything marshall on youtube i think related to metal high gain :)

i think it should be illegal to sell chuger amps to non chugers lol

Lol i dont know what i am by titles then. I just play the things. Marshalls are the only brand of amps Ive ever owned besides Peaveys and all but one of those were combo amps, but havent owned one of those since about 2005.

Haha! its all good, if you listened to my stuff you'd know i incorporate everything from doom, to melodic, to death metal so i don't quite fit in a box either :)

Yeah its boosted, i even boost my be od with sd 1 :)

as long as you play metal and dont go like lets see how it cleans up on jcm809 you good to go :)

maybe im just crazy single minded idiot... lol

My experience is that you don't want too much gain. Most of my amp settings during my recording is actually pretty clean active pickups give the gain a bit of a kick and quad tracking it makes it sound huge without muddying it up. (but like you i stick with high-gain amps ;) )

Thats me too bud lol i dont know what i am. I grew up playing Ac/Dc, Ted Nugent, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Bad Company and Lynyrd Skynyrd. The one day discovered Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Queensryche all around the same time and that took me into a different approach. That started the even way heavier stuff but at the same time, different things altogether like older classic rock and blues.

Im a mutt i guess you'd call me lol

You guys have heard and know my tone preferences, I feel that I am a mutt just like Mike.
I was just never a large speed metal fan , I like to slow it down a bit and let the lightning hit , and the thunder roar, and I only get that through my Marshall’s !!
Cheers
