At 5 years old, right?I got my first guitar.
19 years old.At 5 years old, right?
How do you know the precise date?
That Mel Bay book..... I still shudder in horror from bad flashbacks of 10th grade Strings class lol we sat in the band equipment room playing Nugent, Hendrix, Sabbath and AC/DC riffs instead of practicing the book but would fake it during the weekly exams lol the teacher was a miserable prick anyways and didnt like the fact we wore band shirts and listened to harsher stuff19 years old.
I remember because it was literally a life changing event for me. Guitar was the first thing in my life that I ever felt passionate about, and put all of my effort and dedication into.
I got the guitar, went out and bought a Mel Bay chord book, A theory book, a Beatles song book, and a Led Zeppelin song book.
I played about 6 hours a day every day, and just would not give up. Within 2 weeks I could actually play about 3 or 4 songs, and was learning barre chords and scales.
I still remember the first 2 songs I learned were Rocky Raccoon by the Beatles, and Tangerine by Led Zeppelin.
I was well on my way to my third birthday by then.By the cringe, I had to go and look...

Mine was a Yamaha SBG 200. I still have it, but it's in the closet with no bridge, pickups or pots.Very cool!
March 4 2021 will be my anniversary. The guitar was a Yamaha CG100A but I can't remember the year... 1988, 1989... 1990? Maybe I could check the serial number of the guitar...
Considering howblong I've had one I'm really miserably bad![]()

I always liked those. Number #2 son ran off with my SG3000, then later, the cheeky sod gave it to my daughter's #1 son.Mine was a Yamaha SBG 200. I still have it, but it's in the closet with no bridge, pickups or pots.
It looked like this when I got it.

My first guitar I got when I was 12, of course my parents believed in the “start on acoustic” trope so I got a 100$ sonata acoustic. Piece of junk that I still have in a closet, nigh unplayable now lol. However, on that I went from playing “marry had a little lamb” to “Johnny b good” to “nothing else matters” within a relatively short amount of time and my parents gave in and helped me get an electric![]()
