Gibson ABR-1 Bridge

I'm posting a thread here, I know I can Google.

I have more confidence in your experiences, than wading through the search until I find the correct answer.

I have an ABR-1 wired bridge on my 2017 Les Paul.

Noticed a rattling sort of sound from the G string ( and that's never good ;) ) Sure sounds like it's coming from that general area.

Is the fix as easy as just bending/ re- bending the wire? Anything special, possible issues?

I'm not the worlds expert on Gibson's, but it seems straightforward

String removal? Take the wire off when bending? New wire? New wireless bridge? :jammer:

I guess I'm about to learn about these style bridges.

Long live Fender Lol

Yeah the wire is incredibly easy to fix man, sometimes they get sprung sort of. You can try to take the retainer wire off an very carefully rebend it, if it is deeded sprung. Sometimes they just are ill fitting altogether and you just order a new one.

You can loosen your strings to the lowest possible tension and slide the bridge from over the pegs and under the strings. Id take the retainer spring off if you bend it to not scuff your bridge up with pliers.

Also a good piece of advice: sometimes the adjustable saddle screws will rattle themselves. You can take a can of liquid silicone and spray them, wiping off any excess, then tap on them ( so you dont have to readjust intonation)

Thanks for the tips.

I've had it since dec 2016, so it's probably time for some sort of maintenance. Besides set ups.

I'm on it, thank you guys.

It's a common problem with the ABR bridge. Just one of the reasons they came up with the Nashville bridge design. If it was me I'd rip it off and replace with a Nashville, but if you really dig the ABR maybe get a wireless version?
I'm coing to try bending it, if not I'll order a new one. Kinda want to keep it ABR, just due to the fact it would be the first guitar I've ever owned since the 80's that is all original Lol.

That's more than a couple.
