STring DEal at ZZounds

I didn't like this one review jtcnj.. I play at least 2hours every day. Have you tried them?

First time i use this brand, for $3.50 there is nothing cheaper, and you get what you pay for, after 2 weeks of playing the high 3 strings were starting to show wear, turning dark and "rusty", i do play my guitar 2-3 hours everyday so i could say its normal wear, but if you play your guitar from time to time im sure they will last for a few months in good shape, so again for $3.50 its a great value! Get some! Long live the crow

I read that too.
I wish I could get 2-3 hours daily.
Mostly 1 to 1-1/2 hours, rarely miss a day. I usually play the same guitars(s) for at least several days or more before switching.

I have been using these regularly for 3(?) or so years.
My strings dont get grungy because I wash my hands before playing and pinch my wipe down cloth and rub the strings down as part of my wipe down after playing.

I also use D'Addario basic EXL, and GHS Boomers and I cant tell the difference between them unless I look at the Dad colored balls.
I got away from buying the Dads after experiencing several ball pull outs on the hi e. Usually buy 3 or 10 packs so maybe I got a bad lot run.
Happened 1 time with the Boomers and never with the Martins.

I change them when I notice my tuning stability has degraded some and / or I feel divots at the frets when I run a fingernail along the underside of the the hi e, B or G strings.

JUst bought 2 6 packs, wait nope out of stock!!
EDIT: they dont do Paypal on out of stock so I paid with credit card.

Thanks for the info jtcnj. Seeing that you have been using them for three years is a good testimony on these strings. Good to hear a good review from a Brother here on TTR.

Darco is just another of the many rebranded D'Addario strings out there. I'm no fan of D'Addario's, so no matter how cheap that's gonna be a no for me, dogg.

Why no love for D'ad strings? I've been using them for 35 years and have had 0 issues.

They wear out fast, have what feels like uneven tension compared to other brands, and the wound strings are "zingy" sounding. I know a lot of people swear by them but they are by far my least favorite strings on the market, and all of the ghost brands that they supply strings for exhibit the same (to me) negative qualities.

Re-branding: That may be why they feel so similar to me.
I have not tried a lot of others; perhaps I am blissfully ignorant.

I think at my experience or skill level the whole package is still so rough I cant appreciate those nuances.
Kinda like my level or understanding is honed to about 60 grit while many of you are at final sanding / polishing / buffing.

On the other hand, most nights I feel my rig sounds like sh :dancepoo: t and every now and then pretty good.
The strings are at the start of the signal chain so maybe it would make a big difference.
I'm just not ready for that rabbit hole yet.

** Turns up Distortion pot on RAT2 and bangs out power chords. **

I tend to break D'addario strings left and right. Ernie Ball's i tend to have minimal issues with and im currently experimenting with Elixir nanowebs and while I havn't done anything too crazy with them yet. they seem to be holding their own to my abuse.
