Lucy Van Pelt : "You were supposed to get a good tree!"

We've been getting them for years. I'm a bit of a grouch to begin with so between this and the lights my wife strings up its a good compromise for us...

.
Id love to get one of those! No Trader Joes nearby unfortunately though.

I do have a legitimate Charlie Brown tree with the lone, sad ornament dragging it to the floor. Even plays the Peanuts Theme and has a little Linus Blanket lol20201130_175735.jpg

I went the extra mile this evening -- inspired by @Clockworkmike ....I gathered up my strength -- fought my way to the DEEPEST WILDS of the gear closet (HEY I FORGOT I HAD THAT GUITAR!!!!---oh sorry) and dug out our Christmas decorations -- we go all out here on the Farm--- 2 trees and a musical Santa vintage music box, jamming for the DOGS .

Even "splurged" and put in 6 BRAND NEW AAA batteries in the trees.......... thatsa dollar well spent there

I love the less is more approach: a man of substance!

With some coaxing and some elbow grease my wife was able to get it up over the weekend.
Good thing for her it only happens once a year.

I live in a converted church (mostly) with high vault ceilings, a big main floor with amazing acoustics.
But, being northern Saskabush, she's a bit of a challenge to heat when you can't pass the plate each week.
Hence the stove rockin' away 24/7.

Back when the kids were young and I had a lot more energy, we'd chop down a 15 footer, cram it through the double front doors.
Quite the erection, quite the chore. And man those things suck up gallons of water a day, particularly in wood-heat environment.
After eight days, needles would start raining down constantly, even keep us up a night. We don't do that no more.

This little guy used to be on front porch duty every year, now it's been promoted to be the main show.

Happy holidays my TTR brothers, sisters and in-betweeners (you know who you are).

Gball, DO NOT EVER ADMIT being a GROUCH.

Having lived in MD, it is easy to see why one could get grouchy, BUT with all we have to be thankful for, and how cool a friend you are here, and for all the blessings I am sure you and wife share. We only think the best of you as our forum brother and wish you days over filled with joy and no reasons to feel grouchy if you don't really want to. PLUS there is always SUSHI night and RUSH to cheer us up. Love ya Bro Gball

Thanks for the story; while maybe not what you had in mind they make for great lifetime holiday memories.

We went to artificials after always having real trees.
No pic, but now we have this pretty sketchy 6' that accordions down flat.
You just pull up on the top / center and hook it into the base and support hole, and plug it in, lol.

Why thank you sir! Yeah i always manage to get a great story out of things in my anguish lol

We have an artificial too and thats what kills me: its RIGHT up there in the attic and it looks great. But noooo, over the river and thru the woods to get a twig lol

And that sounds like an awesome tree if you can just pop it up!
