Im glad to assisted, i’ll extend my services to others too.
i never played 7 string , an i not metal enough? Lol
Your reply has lit the fire, I hadn’t even thought of that before yesterday, but it would work great for the amount of drop tuning that I do..It's really not that much different than playing a 6 string once you get used to that 7th string being there. your point of reference will be a bit thrown off but play it for a good 10 minutes and you'll get it figured out. In standard tuning that extra string is a B string so you can do simple power chords on the low B and E strings. OR you can do what I do and drop that B down to an A and really chug like its in drop D. Honestly, it looks way more confusing than what it is. My first experience was going to guitar center and just grabbing a $200 ibanez 7 string and noodling on it to see if I'd even like the idea....was way more fun than I wanted to admit at the time...

Yea, the whole reason why the 7 string exists is to basically "have your cake and eat it too". You COULD get a baritone guitar which are made specifically for lower tunings but you aren't going to get those soaring leads. with a 7 string you can really get your chug on, then go into a soaring solo if you wish. which is what i did with the Reaper. I'm debating on what tuning i want to go ahead and get the Jackson in and what strings.
Now what I don't have any interest in are 8 strings...at that point the neck is just getting to wide for my taste and that is entirely a niche instrument, while 7 strings are becoming more popular. Epica (symphonic metal band) one guitarists uses a 7 string gibson les paul, while the other uses a 7 string ibanez and their riffs sound MASSIVE
8 strings...thats getting into the subgenre of djent where your guitar starts sounding like a really weird bass...not my type of thing...

HEHE MItch, I have a White SG and White P Bass waiting to Jam with those 2 guitars
Just woke up. Must be in a band I’m not too familiar with as I don’t recognize him. Point me in the right direction and I’ll definitely give their music a listen to thoughWhat do you think of this man?
