Whats a guitar outside of your normal flavor that you'd love to have?

Guitars don't really get to me. I see cool ones, but I don't have any real desire to go out and buy one.

Now, on the other hand, performances are what gets me excited..

When someone calls us and offers $2,500 for a 6 hour show, I'm ready to roll. While it is true that the restrictions have limited the venues to some extent, it has also increased the money that venues are offering for a live band, not to mention private estate parties, so in that regard, business is good.

I love performing and being able to pay the bills is of prime importance to me. If I wasn't playing, I wouldn't be eating...so the guitar is really just a necessary tool.

I get that completely. I didn't start fetishizing them until I stopped playing in a band/performing. At that time they were just tools and they really took a beating, so I didn't get too worked up over them. Now they sit there for me to stare at so they are like art and I lust for more.

It is awesome you have the skills to MAKE money with playing the guitars and amps and singing.

For me that is a 3 strikes and I might as well not even go up to bat proposition,

I can't sing,
If I could play, I would likely have been in my prime during the punk era,
and as for anyone paying me $2500 to play for 6 hours. Heck, I am a good carpenter, mason, plumber, kitchen and bath guy, and it might take me a month to make $5k for high quality jobs. I just wish I could charge what I am worth but if I did, I feel like I would not get the jobs.

I usually do not charge enough, I know.

Awe come on, Robby-Bobby! Isn't there at least one "out of your comfort zone" guitar that you have the slightest interest? Let your hair down and play along, dammit... :good_morning:

Chili, I once found a '83 ES-335 at Bill's that I wanted desperately. It was just amazing (I think, if memory serves, this was around 1992 so the guitar wasn't all that old at the time). I actually put money down on it and was going to pay it off later and they sold it out from under me. It was the one time in my life I came real close to getting one and I honestly don't know why because I would still really love to have one.

G, I once found one of these that Victor Litz in Gaitherburg was selling on ebay etc. Price $999 +
I went to see it, OMG the finish checking was insane. They told me they could not sell it to me yet because they had to wait 30 days for the police check to say it was not stolen.

Get this...

Our singer asked me to help out and play some Christmas songs at her family's Christmas tree farm. I don't own an acoustic guitar and I do not like them. I had to borrow one... :-)

Get this, Robert,

I had a friend who I bought a cheapy Acoustic for while he was in a down on his luck period. He had me storing his Martin D28 and wanted to use it where he was. Knowing this was a NOOOO. I bought him a used Yamaha off craigslist for $30. Gave it to my nephew who now plays it.

Here is my current acoustic. Tim Armstrong Hellcat. It has a Pickup and EQ and Tuner. Nice little unit.
