Ripped 'em off

That guitar is wicked cool. Lots of mojo.

I think the Shaws lasted until about '86 or '87 so probably not likely in there. Like I said, there's a lot of hype about them but I never found them to be that interesting.

Thanks Gball. If only I had known you back in 1991, I never would have sold my even MOJO'ier '79 LP.
Had I not found out in recent years that the LP stopped being made in the 60's then reintroduced with the Deluxe, then Standard, I would have sworn my guitar was older than 1979. It took detective work to estimate my first guitar as being a '79. From memory, the serial and Made in USA and Volute and BLACK Ebony body, Tulip Tuners, and uncovered T Tops all point to '79. But from the amount of buckle rash, dullish black color, wear and tear, I would have sworn it was a 10+ year old guitar by the time I bought it in 1982-83. I have really really longed to have the exact guitar back, but with the prices a '79 are commanding nowadays, I resigned myself that I will never get another. The prices for these Norlins topping $3500+ and because that is like my favorite cars from my youth @7-10X what I could have paid for them around 1980-82 keeps poor me from being able to afford them in 2020 dollars.

Haha, I had a '77 Custom that I got new, and by, say 1986 it looked liked I had dipped it in acid and drug it behind a truck for a mile. I beat the living crap out of that thing, but it never let me down. Kind of wish I still had it - I sold it after a guy botched a refret on it and jacked up the ebony, but still it's a sentimental thing.

YUP. SO you know. I also think it was a damn Custom that got me to lose interest in my Standard. BUT I never did buy a Custom.
Not Gordon Miller Music, but there was another music store in Hillendale shopping Center that has all kinds of LP's and Strats in the 70's that just captivated me. I think is was a Music House, but in Towson not in Catonsville.
