Help with contest

I'm entering a contest on another forum. The challenge is to play along with a short backing track The chords are reasonably complicated (hint: Georgia on my Mind) I'm trying to come with a dual lead scenario. I am playing bass and both lead guitars. The rest is the backing track. Is the lead too cluttered? Can you make out both lead tracks or do they cancel out

I think that they work well together, didn’t sound cluttered in my ears .

Yep....what Mitch said. If anything, the lower lead line could come up a tiny bit, maybe...as long as it doesn’t step on the main line.

I tried to vary the lead volumes. The first time through the clean guitar is louder. The second time the dirty guitar is louder.

It sounds really good, have you tried panning the two lead guitars? They both sound like they are panned center. For leads I usually go 25-30% left or right. In this case I would have one lead go one way and the other the other way. This kinda opens up your tonal space a bit and helps them be heard a bit more.

In Reaper at the mix panel on the bottom it’s just a pan knob you can turn one way or the other, or right click on it and it pops up a window where you can type it in as well as volume. I imagine in most Daw’s it’s about the same way

I didn't even know the mixing panel existed. This changes everything. I've panned them both 30%. It sounds way better. I've updated the original post with the updated version. Thank you!

i would suggest playing same lines higher frets, it will sound like question answer type thing. for ex. if you playing in first position on G on 3rd fret, other lines play it on 15th fret.

I tried to do that but couldn't get it to sound right. If I had more time I think that would be the way to go but I have to submit it today.

play exact lines you play just higher up , it should sound good. to me it other guitar kind of sounds burried. or harmonise it octave higher
