When I Break a String:

Had these Ernie Ball Cobalt 009x046 Hybrids on my Les Paul Custom for 3 months, until I broke the high 'e' today during a recording session.

More proof that the roller bridge's gentle radii is easier on the strings....

Have you tried the paradigm strings by ernie ball? it's what i use on my floyd rose guitars and they last a LONG time. Also, i never had good luck with fender medium picks, i used them when i was a teenager and just kept breaking them, i switched over to dunlop picks soon after realizing after my 5th pack of fender picks that they weren't working for me and been using them since.

Here’s another clip from 20 years ago. Pretty raw, recorded with one mic. Bill, the bass player, was by far the best musician in the group.

Nice work

Very nice work Don O!!

Pick dust. Oh my. You do assault those strings. I tend to not be as aggressive, so tend to not break strings while playing.

Weirdest string break I’ve had was on my 12 string. Playing a different guitar one day and I heard a “twang” from inside the closet. Opened the 12 string case and yep.... broke a string inside the case.
That white dust gets all over my guitars. Between pickups.

reminds me a few of mine may be ready for new strings.
with the holiday coming, I am making it a priority to get around to a lot of little things that need doing or finishing.
I feel much the same way.
With the holiday, I would like to hide inside a large cardboard box until it's all over (please?).

Yes I do break some strings but since I switched to the string saver bridge I haven't broken any yet.

I use to break high E , now i break A and low E too :)
Too much down picking and too hard i guess?? Who knows.... :2Thumbs:
I break them on all guitars I play
When I'm just playing/noodling at home, I hardly ever break a string. When I'm playing live, or jamming with friends, or band practice, I get caught up in the energy and hit them really hard. That's when I break strings. I wear out a lot of picks too. :dood: :guitar:

Same here
I have not broke a string in a month, so I am due for one lol
Cheers

I haven't used the Paradigms yet, but they are on my list of things to try.

The Fender Mediums have just the right amount of flex to get my alternate picking technique down correctly. I like the feel when they are worn to a sharp edge, and I keep a pool of well-worn picks always on hand.

I've tried Dunlop and others, and just didn't have the same fluidity...
