Rock....got real?

Im not defending Beato-- however he had 3 or 4 other videos in the series -- pointing out the roots of rock the rock gods the guitar gods of various genres and time periods....

perhaps search out the one you identify with and watch it?

I thought the "rock got real" was a bit tongue in cheek --- ?? maybe I was worng

I just think it was just a title, not an attempt to claim 90's was the Shizz while all other before it was sub par.
Rick also mentioned how late 80's Hair Metal music was fading. I still enjoyed it and under the makeup and hairspray were some great players, but MORE turned out to be on it's way and just like I had in the 70's, I listened to a variety from the previous decades, the current decade and on, into the future one from 2010's till now and basically tuned in to ALL types out there.

Well, I'll need to go and watch the other related episodes, but generally speaking I probably listen to more music from the '90's on a day-to-day basis than any other decade. The '70's might be a close second, and I have those soft-spots for the music that formed me and shaped me, but for me at least the '90's were the most exciting decade for Rock.

The golden era for me is 1966-1990. There was a great wave from 2003-2008 but outside of that, i think its kinda stale. There were good bands throughout the missing years though
