NAD Orange TH30

So far on 1960bx dialing up some good old school sound. Might have got this amp for more low gain sounds. There is tons of gain but what i noticed in Orange so far..Orange has the most personality on its own than my other amps,,there is some serious character in the tone. But keep the gain down..it doeskin need the gain in the mix..its own content adds nice on its own. On last song..learned to use that ..upping the gain too far takes that lil bit of edge in the mix away. With the Marshall 2204 it was a great mix .. let the Orange take the color & Marshall the beat. They didn't clash & worked well together

On Mesa Black Shadow MC90's..lil punchier, not quite as deep but very clear. The cleans on both cabs are fantastic..noticing a harmonic bigness in the oranges..the circuit is very usable & very colorful up the dials... lots of fun for a guitar player that like to use guitar knobs.

going try the HP8 & Recto cab on next. See where it will land for its home.

Ok, the a/b is over.. the gear wars ..now will have time to get serious about the music & record a song or 2

The TH30 on the HP8 cab is mojo..Orange voiced their cabs nice for the amps. The Or15 might be the best amp i ever played. On this cab or greenbacks..it conjures everything up from being a kid in the 70's on up. The crunch..its automatic in the amp & the gain dial is 100% usable as you travel through time. The TH30 is tight & a pretty good low gain amp also & the cleans are very 3d like..no reverb needed on these 2 amps.

Put the 50 cal+ on the Recto side..it likes greenies & thump & that cab..really did find out how my Triple recto tone evolved with the cab being the perfect match,,,the sheffields on top & swamp things on bottom bring thump & yet cut..very balance anywhere you stand,,no dominate,,just blended goodness

The DSL 50 went back with the 2204 thingy.

My V will be paid off next month. It might be time for an OR15.
I gotta say.. it helped end the search..i pushed Marshall..fender..Mesa as far as i could go. The OR15..have no idea why..is the fullest sounding amp & at same time most sensitive i ever experienced,

But it needs to go n a 4x12..the more nuetral the speaker the better,,even t75 was fine..greenbacks..man its 70's crunch with speaker cmpression..k100's its tight clear metal..v30's lil mid color. the real deal seal..back n forth on singles & hums..and i have no idea why..it loves Gibson Dirty fingers & ceramics .. something pops harmonically with them,,then the T bucker, PAF, 490's, respond in a real classic rock way. Turn gain up,,roll guitar tone back,,you need no fuzz..its stoner land & trance time.. just go back n frth from neck to bridge even with tone down..crazy fun.

I used to have a Rocker 30. I love the Orange sound. My buddy had a TH30 and we clobbered each other in the mix so I switched to a different amp, I think an AC15C2 at the time. I wasn't using the Orange so I traded it for a Gretsch semi hollow. The Gretsch was nice but I'd love to have the Rocker 30 back now. Orange amps are a different experience to play. They are very sensitive.

Yes ! I almost got the R30 but it ended up being this one. They sure are sensitive

Wanted to be fair to the amp & play some sane music. Got the melody maker & p90 SG out

Singles..what an amp on clean..such articulate note separation..such ring,,had the gain way down,,simple twist of shape knob, nice edge of breakup, made me put it in mid position back tone knob on guitar down & simply strum full chords..chimey..ringy..very beautiful sounding cleans

P90.the surprise was the clean..lil darker than the MM but how nice for full dark rhythm strumming. Single note neck pickup ..not sure why but jazzy stuff was happening..there is a control to this amp. Ad some gain, nice subtle leads & yes had to toss a Black sabbath riff in with gain up..but in my reaction..

the amp so much can serve up many sounds & is very happy to oblige your guitar & playing style with the reward of spitting back at ya what you put in. It is not just for the metal guy..maybe even more so for the one that likes their guitar to shine through & like simple plug n play. I did not need an EQ, tho i tried one..sure can really hone in with it..but i found the shape a tool to dial in super quick when the guitar swaps were done

Kinda have a thing always do, soon as i get an amp.. record it immediately..just off instinct & before the mind ruins it.. pretty cool the TH today..spiit out 2 new songs ..first one was a given..super saturated downer heavy & as then was exploring the SG faded started strumming..all i did was move the shape knob..instant..rock..strumming chords. brought out a natural southern-raspy type sound.

Then there is the clean channel..that is a whole nother world of great tones..almost a 2nd amp. These amps have such usable sound built in & each guitar can shine. Single coils really pop..

also, a/b with OR15 finally..the TH30 is immediate & the OR has a tiny bit of old school sag in the attack which is a blast. The OR15 really goes back on greenbacks

Love your amps my friend! Congrats on the Orange! Personal favorites are the green 2204 and the JCM2000!

Isn’t the JCM a capable amp.
I have access to both, but I am still a Marshall head .
It was the 1981-82 4210 Combo that was converted into a head, the 1st channel switcher JCM800's and it wasn't the well loved models that came out in 84'. The reverb & red channel had developed some issues, green channel worked fine but to get it to the edge was LOUD. So I moved it along and am happy with my DSL for what I need them for.
