I want a bass guitar

Hi, recently I bought a bass amp. Now I need a bass guitar. But I don't have experience in bass guitar. I want a cheap one with pasive pickups. Tips?

Adrian is definitely the go to guy in that regard, but in the meantime. Ibanez GSR200 Electric Bass Guitar

This is my first bass, and i still have it. Pretty versatile, holds tuning well. it does have an active system in it (the bass boost) so does require a 9volt battery but as long as you unplug when your done you can get well over a year on just one battery. The pickups are passive. The neck actually is pretty comfortable and i've used it in all of my recordings.

Metal that is cheap for a Bass, you wonder how they can make them at that cost.

What is your budget? Starting out it hard to go wrong with whatever Squier or Fender fit your budget. Ibanez and Yamaha are also good bets.

2nd hand Ibanez SR is my recommendation.
I had an SR500 for a while and still regret selling it.
The electronics are active in all but the GSR100's. But pickups are passive across the whole range.
The SR500's seem to be the watershed for 'Name Brand' pickups and better quality wood/hardware.
The necks on SR's are fairly narrow, like a Jazz bass, if that appeals or not.

Defently a secon hand one. IMO You can't go wrong with Ibanez. I will take a look in the SR range.

I played one for a couple years and it was pretty good.
