How about another recover?

Time to get another project under way. I am going to recover this Randall 412 to match my Randall head. I have the red vinyl in but I'm waiting on the piping and grill cloth coming from Mojotone.

The cab is back in my house and the wife is already bitching since I took it to the office about a month ago. :D Oh well, just a little while it has to clutter up the place. lol

Awesome! I actually saw your video and commented on it, bout 4 months before i joined TTR, while looking up Randall 667s: i had no idea that was you and your amp! That is an incredible amp, dude. Doesnt get much more evil than a Lament Configuration amp design lol

Thank you very much for the compliment. I truly appreciate it. I wish I had another idea like that. lol

This took an unexpected turn. The original tolex came off super easy. Pealed right off without any issues unlike the Crate head I just reworked. However, it left the glue residue on the cabinet. At first I thought nothing of it, I would just do some light sanding and be on my way. Well, after about an hour of "light" sanding I concluded that a hand sanding block was not going to cut it. To test the waters, I glued up the back panel without cleaning off the old glue.

Seems to have come out okay. No bumps or issues. Just a PITA working with the Mojotone Tru Glu which is different stuff to work with.

Tonight I went to the hardware store, got myself a random orbit palm sander, some 60 Grit and 120 Grit pads and spent about an hour on the cabinet. It's all stripped and sanded down. I have to repaint the corner protectors as well.

I'm about 90% there. Tomorrow I have the finish washers for the rear panel and then on Saturday, the grill cloth and piping comes in. I unfortunately won't be around this weekend to finish it up. We're headed out for the weekend.

But here's the progress so far. This vinyl shows every flaw. eek. The bottom, where I messed up the gluing process, is pretty f'd up. lol

Project complete. I came home from the camping trip to find a couple of boxes by the front door. One was the grill cloth. Not really cloth after pulling it out and finding it's more like grill STRAW than cloth. lol.

I couldn't wait so as soon as we settled in from the trip, I had to break out the tools and go to town. Here's some teasers. The final photo shoot will be soon.

I went with Black with Red pinstripe.
