I'm sure some folks enjoy it responsibly, thats fine by me.
I guess it is really the same with alcohol.
Neither helps my playing, in fact it renders me useless.
For far too many, another thing for the systemic / generational/ career welfare folks to entertain themselves all day while I (and many others) have to get up and go to work everyday to 100% pay our own way. (I dont mean people with a legitimate disability).
I resent that.
But I'm more inclined to believe we in the USA are headed for a Brave New World.
Add it to social media, alcohol, etc. another way to keep the public fat and happy, distracted and not asking too many questions.

It doesn't appear to me like legalization / decriminalization / whatever has caused major problems in the US states where it's legal, or Canada, or the Netherlands, or Spain, or wherever else... I bet the rest of the western world will follow suit eventually.
Personally I couldn't care less if people use it or not, and it's good if they don't have to deal with actual criminals or be treated as such as to get it.
On the other hand, I agree with @jtcnj that it's not great that there are even more ways to escape reality (btw Huxley's other books aren't as good). But maybe there are ways to reduce the need for it. A sense of purpose in life is probably the biggest thing to begin with... Also seems to me that at least here a lot of effort is put into teaching small children how to handle their feelings and conflicts compared to how we were taught when I was very young (which isn't that long ago). So maybe they'll know better how to deal with life when they grow up.

I agree with you all. The state's main motivation to legalize it is so the can tax it. They did the same with fireworks (which I have embraced). It won't be a big deal. I used to go to NJ for cheap gas and booze. I'll smuggle in an 1/8 of an ounce once in a great while. It's decriminalized in Philly anyhow (under an ounce).
