Anyone working

Well actually... I finally decided to learn Free's All Right Now... ala Paul Kossof. Just the rhythm guitar for now. Hopefully I'll stick with it and learn the lead part too. The Chicks would have dug me more if I had learned this song about 40 years ago... :BH:

To my ears, this guy is got Kossof's proper phrasing and chord structure...:

I've started learning some Van Halen. Our guitarist and I want to add "Runnin With The Devil" to our rock setlist. Van Halen really is brand new to me, because I never followed them really....mostly because the guitar tone lacked that super-aggressive, high-gain structure that pulls me in instantly as a listener, but its a fun project!!!

See to me, that would become a job. For you, it is! For me it is a fun hobby so that type of time commitment to covers would beco e less than fun fo me!

I love playing the songs I grew up listening too. But, I am also writing an original theme song for our band, and that's fun too. Its never boring for me and I would never be happy with a regular job...

Led Zep - Achilles' Last Stand

That is no small task. What are there, like, 12 distinct guitar parts in that song? That's some achievement-level song learnin' right there.

We tried playing "Ten Years Gone" once years ago (two guitars players in the band) and we could never find a satisfying amalgam of all the parts of the song - I think in sections are are at least 4 guitar parts overlayed and weaving in and out of each other - so I never really wanted to play it out.

I just stick with the main recognizable parts. I use the live arrangement because it was one guitar.

So far I have everything but the solo pretty well worked out, but it did take me about a weeks worth of practice to get it down.

I've also got a fairly good version of Ten years gone.

Friday’s work was trying to get two riff ideas to blend into one song, I have written a first draft of lyrics for it but have no other members to try and bash it all together.
Those of you on this forum have already heard the fragmented pieces , and I did post my attempt, but in case you would like to hear it ?
It’s called Slipping on the Moon.
Thanks
Mitch
