Lol i love that disclaimer on the pedal!Even Bill Finnegan thinks it’s ridiculous. That’s why I bought two KTRs. One is new in box. You can still get them brand new for 245.00. It’s not like they are out of production.

Those are awesome! I got some friends who belong to a club of RC airplane racers nearby. Do those planes run on Nitro or glowfuel?I hear you gball, I spend and have spent much much more on this, than I will ever spend on guitar gear.View attachment 50374

If i wanted this pedal i def choosing £40 one difference between 2 are minimal.
What exactly is a Klon???
I generally dismiss discussion of them, so I know nothing about them...

A great sounding overdrive but incredibly overpriced and possibly even overrated. SG John's KTR pictured above is a more reasonable approach of the Klon Centaur by the same original creator, Bill Finnegan, at a much more realistic price, using the same exact circuitry but using a surface mount. What exactly is a Klon???

Bill Finnegan kinda disavows the sheerly ignorant craze of the Klon Centaur these days but when he built the original units in the early 90s, he intentionally dipped the boards in black epoxy resin to make it harder for people attempting to replicate its circuit. So hes a bit to blame as much as anyone if you ask me.
Well thats definitely cool of him then if he's charity building some of the Centaurs. Kinda changes my perspective on him alotIn Bill's defense, even though I don't know him. He did cover them in goop because he built them all himself at his kitchen table. He was trying not to be prematurely put out of business by someone copying, then mass producing them. I wish that I knew him in the early nineties, as Bill Janovitz from Buffalo Tom and many other local players were asked to try them out and give their feedback. Or, I'd still like to know him now as he's in Somerville, and occasionally build an actual Centaur. He only does it on auction to help out some disadvantaged people in hi neighborhood. Basically sells them new for top dollar, then donates the money directly to needy people.

does your KTR have the black goop? (asking for a friend)
I forget. I opened up the back looking for a serial number to add it to my inventory list. Didn’t pay much attention to much else.
My brother does that with every tool he has, using a really weird/unique design of his initials, engraved into them in a inconspicuous place. Pretty decent idea as he can easily prove its his own logo: ive certainly never seen anything like itI write my drivers license number on all my Dewalt tools, electronics, and inside my gear. Earlier this year the next town over police busted a guy with a bunch of stolen power tools and published a picture of over 50 tools. Said if yours were stolen AND could prove they are yours, come on down.
I write it were it is not obvious (like inside a pedal).
