Best simple, idiots-guide to recording guitar?

I recently began exploring the idea of recording my guitar, not to make videos really but to be able to play it back and hear where I need improvement and work. But i have ZERO idea of what in the hell im doing in that department, as far as what equipment i would need and how to even go about doing it. What advice would you give someone with zero know-how, to record their own guitars: such as equipment, software etc, namely something idiot proof? Lol I seriously appreciate your time!

Recording via my phone AINT working and it sounds terrible when i play back: exhibit A!

Hey thats good advice to me! The SM57 im pretty familiar with and used to actually have a few of those around here somewhere, but as for Scarlett: is that the Focusrite interface? And unfortunately I got a damn Android and I dont think garageband works with it. I might have to find another good source

Funny story: the other day my folks who actually live about 4 houses down the street from me ( no idea how that worked out in life!) called and asked me if I was playing guitar. I said " Yeah why?" And they told me they heard it with their doors and windows shut and my stuff is well inside my house with the doors and windows shut as well lmao told them " Eh yeah sorry, ill turn it down a bit"

Moved out and away from home years ago and still get told to turn it down!

Orange amps are awesome as well! And yeah i totally stole the Clockworkmike name from A Clockwork Orange, many many years ago and i just lazily used it for tons of handles online lol
