EVH DEAD of CANCER Today RIP ED

When I was living in SoCal in the late 1980's - and working and playing the Sunset Strip - I bumped into EVH at Grover Jackson's garage in Covina once. I had been to see Wayne Charvel about a problem I was having with the tuning on my Ibanez Destroyer's Edge Tremolo and Wayne sent me to see Grover. EVH was very polite and struck me as a very down to earth dude. The chance meeting was very brief, but the impression was that of a really genuine dude...

Comes to rock stars, he was a ROCK STAR.
Famous for possibly The Original Shred, he played a mean rhythm, sang, played keys and wrote many a wicked melody and riff, grinning madly and owning it all .

See ya EVH, but I hope not too soon.

First time seen and heard of Van Halen was when I went to a Ted Nugent concert and VH was on the ticket too. Man, that was a long time ago.

True story at the above concert, which was at the Binghamton Arena back in it's hey days. The line going up to the arena - which was more like a crowd packed between two concrete walls - was sooooooo tightly packed I can remember lifting my legs and being held off the ground by the people pressing against me - no joke or exaggeration there. Anyways,..

Cancer sucks and it doesn't care who you are either...

My post above didn’t post this afternoon at the time I typed it, the local radio station has been doing a tribute to Eddie all day since the news broke.
I have never met him but seen them countless times before they broke, in dive bars, many backyard parties, and Anaheim stadium.
Will surely be missed but never forgotten.
My buddy Delfin and I used to argue who was better.
Me it was RR Del was VH both are now gone :(
Jam out in the heavens guys ..
Thanks Mitch

Admittedly, I've only listened to a handful of VH songs. I just couldn't get past DLR'S voice. I felt like EVH was a monster talent, but he never "moved" me like Gary Moore or Randy Rhoads...Nonetheless, he was an incredible musician and showman...

That's how I feel about Dimebag and Pantera.

Very saddened by the loss of Eddie, one of the greatest innovators both in playing and in gear development.

I had been expecting this for some time, so I’m not surprised, but still, I’m quite simply gutted.

He was the reason I picked up the guitar. Van Halen’s music was what kept me sane through some pretty shitty times as a kid. I’m forever in debt to him.

From the bottom of my heart: Thank you, Edward.
