'My Wall' Thread

Hey @Mitch Pearrow SJMP remember few years back MF, right when i got my DSL40cr..saw your first garage clips..man, that lingers in my mind as such an inspiration..to just..well just make music. Good stuff, man time is flying isn't it..look at us all, still holding on to that music that was the backdrop to our lives !
That I do brother, I was just browsing through my Utube channel because there are a couple of them that I haven’t played in awhile, 2018 doesn’t feel like that long ago, but it was 3 summers ago, and I have to do that to remember the melodies of certain songs, and to remember the names ha ha
Cheers
Brother

No No No Den it’s the same feeling I get with Highway Star :2Thumbs:
Cheers
Mitch
yeah, Highway Star sure does do that ! My poor character is abut to crash & burn hard. But he has to get to the point that He wants to turn his life around once & for all..but the speed is building up... actually have next sng in Reaper, the drums are done. Big change of pace. Think its going to be Melody Maker & Nighthawk together in more of a subdued songi

I am as always waiting to hear it. I have been slacking again :-(

Life makes it hard at times to get it in. Being housebound do get some time(between the crazy phone for work) Never would be able to do this if was on the road working, Went out yesterday cause my house locksmith needed off. I enjoyed it, was never a sit at home person.

When I came back to playing this time , it was when the world started to take a dump on my line of work, while I was sitting at home searching for work leads, I played and played some more.
I put quite a few songs together, this was when I only had about 12 of them. And I played them every day , and tried new parts all over the place in them, my buddy John said one of them had enough riffs for 3 songs, I laughed, I am going to bring it here if you don’t mind.

This was on my blue tiger striped Epiphone LP with the SD JB in the bridge recording is from a camera my grandson had.
The song got extended the next time we ran through it, this is one of the first tunes we put together.
Thanks
Nice, yeah having or putting the time in is a huge factor in consistency. It is so magical when a band is hitting on all cylinders..have to enjoy it when it does..

Very interesting week. the kemper thread prompted me lining my amps up & pretending to profile them. Yes the kemper would be cool, will get it. But, as my band situation is evolving. We will be bringing the PA & a box truck anyways & its so simple to plop the DSl on a cab & never look back..set the DSL's up as 4 seperate channel amps & have 3 pedals on board as adjusters..now there is 4 channels all leveled out, but i dont switch em during the song..just pop the leads & use appropriate guitar fr the song

by experimenting with the pretend profiling..dialed in the DSL's to get pretty darn close to the fender's in what clean i will use & if anything..the Marshall cleans are haunting..which fits even better. that experiment led to tracking clean just now for next song. Used Nighthawk..again..tried the strat..wanted it so bad to work but in serving the song the mid position NH is just awesome for strumming chords

End of the Road..song 13, now just 4 more to go for Side..phew..all these songs basically in 4 weeks. Out f nowhere came the drummer & he is seriously committed to the project. Songs to him without the drums in & soon he will track..side B will be way more fun cause now the fills & build ups will be more spontaneous & will have another person to create with.

'Out of Control" song 9, Side A. Character is totally losing it. reckless abandon.. but..he still has 1 chance left..deep own inside,,but it will have to be real & and a miracle.

4 to go on this side..trying to focus & wrap this side up before too many on side B start happening,,this heavy run has invigorated me & more than likely put a band together cause of it. Recording isn't my forte, still learning tons each song. & they do sound pretty decent being played in PA at gig levels. Probably all i know really since day 1 years ago. Most comfortable taking the music & playing it live. The songs usually translated to fun songs to play live. Maybe that is the oomph behind it,,figuring out how to make songs to play live people can rock out to.

I like the heavy parts chagging :dood:

Another lock on the tunes, and I have to agree with Ramo, but you already know my preference, the 2:50 Mark is where it begins to swamp the heavies into place.
Good job Den . And congrats on getting a drummer to rock with, your project is on a roll brother.
Cheers
Mitch

Whoa... August 2020.... 13 full songs done & the 3rd best month in my Companies history. Added another tech 2 weeks ago.

This project has lit me up...finally took initiative,, I go out and take calls again., sometimes i unlock the car & not even charge anything..enjoy being out..dang phone makes it hard tho

Drummer is in place..fully dedicated.

The Marshall's ,,5150 & those V's with the pickups.. very comfortable in a zone. feedback has been very good n the new material.

Got the words where they need to be

Just think..i cant sing..but by trying..the songs are ready..if i made excuses..would have nothing..now there is a foundation to build a solid band from. We have great places to play when its time. Drummer was with me in 2016 when the singer got in trouble.. had to sing & finish the commitments..we were blown away at the support..mostly jammed to the songs & put minimum words..kinda fun in a way cause we focused on the music..

Also my FB came up today with post from exactly 5 years ago this week // our guitar player bailed at the start of the studio..i had plopped $1,500 down for a pre paid package.

Put my Ampeg pf500 rig up for sale & ended up with Peavey valveking 2 & Epi SG with Alnico 2..

studio understood & allowed me to re book dates in Feb next year..scrapped the whole 10 songs i wrote for the band & learned guitar & we went in again..did 10 new songs on guitar..scared to death..but it worked out. Middle of the sessions.. realized..if you got heart... believe in yourself & it will show..

'Rose Colored".....character knows now..people really alter reality & in the end only hurt themselves with the way they think life is, but really live in lies..most dangerous thing is..when you can lie to yourself... just matter of time before the....

Interesting week. Knowing the Computer switch would take a few days..decided t finish the Washburn G2V & the mesa F100 cming in ..well it radically changed everything..mic's it up quick..going to have to save it for side B. Side A next t last song has drums & main guitar on now that the learning curve of the computer is set up,,Reaper is rolling nice. having 2 monitors is so cool & actually being able to see the meters better instead of on laptop. Should pay off..also treated the ISO booth better & measure the monitors spacing & have them exactly set up the same. Huge difference that made in listening.

The mesa will prob get most of side 2. Will be doing a bit more clean & mid gain..the F100 responds so well from clean to gain channel. Sure is the Mesa,if you are a Marshall player..so many sounds are in this thing its crazy, I love the EQ interaction & gain staging..so precise.. Put 2 Ruby's in V2 & 3. 12ax7 HG5's..radically made the 2nd gain stage so usable. The amp is quiet at idle. The tightness & bigness is something..also..tilted it back a bit right uder tthe 5150 & with MV just barely on..sit right-in front of it. fantastic depth & crunch even at barely on.

Finishing up last 2 songs on Side A this week. then the mix & master..band practice starts in 2 weeks & will have all the words & chord changes all typed & ready to give out for work sheets. Setting band room up again..feels..well so natural...missed it. Might grab 2nd f100 & leave it down there possibly or DC5 for some grit

Well Side A..The DARKNESS is done !!.. Since July 28..got 17 songs done..inadvertently 3 for side B..which...the character in the story..says whoa there...not the light yet. Lets make some more heavies & all the sudden..'GRAY" hit me..lets get cynical or something before we see the light,,cause in reality..thats the way it works.. no lightning bolt hits & we are back to normal..have to go through the phase where you are treated like an Alien right at home...

here is the Intro to start it off Side A..it is word for word what i wrote in my book the day in 2010 when i saw the towers fall for the first time..this whole Saga was conceived ..about 7 songs in about 45 minutes..kept em all inside until something in July must of opened me up..

I guess this is the line, where Side A is complete except for mixing & mastering. really took a chance..been down a lil bit in life recently..not normal for me

..J didn't want to sing anymore & had 2 new ones all ready for vocals.. When that happens..usually resort back to the hard rock..its way more fun to play live anyways. In frustration got my DSL100h modded up head back & so many new songs just came out..the V's with all the pickups swaps really hit the front end of the Marshall's...then the 5150 came in & really sat right for leads..but was hearing something in the mix..all these tracks are not mixed yet..just basically balanced in Reaper..trying to capture the performance as if we were playing live.

Then a Mesa f100 showed up.... the lower mids just are tight & track way easier.... The Caliber 50+..on Marshall cabs..probably will get the majority of this next 14 Songs called Side B.."the Gray"...cause of how messed up life is..granny just passed away, was not ready to tell a story of niceness yet..there is too much down inside that is not worked out...during this last 45 days of intense recording..found who i am again..it took the balls to sing & not really let things stop you..there is a critic every where these days..just turn on the computer..watch the news..no way can we let people impose on us..

here is 'Take me Away".. Song 3 Side B..first Mesa.. headed to Florida in a few for the funeral. Wish i could see the swampers but we on a real tight schedule. wanted to meet @eSGEe & @Hackmaster real bad & sit on that porch & have a beer...looks like a storm is brewing up down there today..be safe..FL here we come again,, 911 memories . wildfires, virus, protest, death, lawyers, election..what a messed up year ...

"Better Get Out". having a blast with the mesa's & my writing is now on Side B..just flowing out..whatever i feel basically...3 more songs are in my looper, drums done n 1 & other 2 ready for drums

This is how the MK3 w/EV & DC3 w/V30 layered ..no mix but faders..stepped n my Joyo chorus during some leads..spent time on capture..had fun singing...Drummer is recruiting bass players & wants me to sing more in this style..i am like what style? lol....gonna audition bass players in 2 weeks. Should we tell em i have an SVT & fridge for live use ? lol
