This should aggravate some of the TUBE LOVERS

So, I finally got around to trying the RetroValves in a little 5 watt tube amp with tremolo and reverb. The amp has two 12ax7 tubes, one for premap and the other for tremolo/reverb - it's a piezo style reverb. In the preamp section general gain seemed about the same, but seemed kind of lifeless to me, but not horrible. The tremolo has a fixed intensity and the RetroValve made it way too intense - lol (good or bad, depending on what your looking for). With the reverb the RetroVerb didn't seem to make much difference.

I forgot what this thread was about but I see alot of amp porn, some even wide open showing... well, everything!

The best (for me) amp I've played this far is the Quilter Overdrive 200. I know, I know, there's not a single tube in it. Heck, in amp land she's the equivalent of a $20 blow up doll from the shag shack around the corner but I'm telling you, that doll knows how to squeeze and please...

:io:

Nice to hear all this input on all of your experiences with all this equipment!

So, the not tube tube thingies were not particularly impressive....
Worth a try and good to keep as spares I suppose or for testing purposes.

I've never played any of the storied Fenders, Mesas, etc. or even a real Marshall.
I'd wager I would not sound substantially better on any of them, but it would be nice to try some out.

Or maybe not, I dont need no GAS.
Or no stinkin' badges!!
