I am, thus far, the only TTR member to trade a documented USA Gibson for a Chibson.

Despite its dubious stigma, the Chibson was simply assembled more closely to Gibson's published specs. Everything was deaon-on.

It was a good swap.

It sounds really great from what I can tell on just a few chord strums. My right arm is in a sling from surgery and I can't really play it!

A really solid survivor. Plays well at all neck positions. Intonates well. Vibrola works well and even the tuning is stable.

This is an incredibly well preserved original.

Well...you all know about this one already, but it must be formally introduced!

The only thing wrong is the tuners were swapped out when with Grover's because they were popular at the time.

I have a set of 1969 Gibson Deluxe Double Line Double Ring Tuners on the way!

Here are some of the things I've verified to prove it's provenance;

Fat Heel Joint with little to no ledge
Pot Codes are CTS 1968 Week 52
Swimming Pool Route with Neck Tenon showing dates to Very Early 1969 and possibly 1968
No Dot Over the i in Gibson
Patent Number Pickups
Nylon Saddles on the Bridge
And Finally the Serial Number verifies as Early 1969.

I think this is a January or February 1969 guitar...

Great meeting with Robert! I actually got to hear how GREAT the 69' SG sounds! We also did some guitar work and shot the $hit for quite a while.

Can't wait to do it again!
