Papa's Got A Brand New Amp -

So, the Origin is turning out to be better than I anticipated. The only drawback is the amp is TOTALLY DEPENDENT on a clean boost or it just doesn't sound good. It absolutely has to be DIMED and BOOSTED to really get things moving, at least for my "style" of playing anyways.

Having said that, it has clean tones on par with a Twin Reverb, which shocked me.

I understand its not a PTP chassis, but can I ask which early amp is it most closely related to???
From all I have read, it’s supposed to be like a JTM 45, but my ears tell me that it sounds more like a 1987 ...
Cheers

By itself, you are 100% correct.

Remember that Angus Young's tone was forged by the clean boost of the Schaffer Wireless, so his JMP wouldn't sound the same without it.

This Origin 50H actually has a bigger, more naturally saturated tone than my DSL40C 's can produce, once the TS-9 comes into play.

George Lynch was another that relied heavily on a clean boost for his tone.

Yngwie is another...
Oh I totally get that. I use a clean boost with a few of my amps here n there. What I am getting at is that I don't need yet another amp that requires a clean boost basically all the time.

Good Point!!!

The Origin is NOT the right amp for stand-alone gain production...but, to my ears, it has a quality that is unmatched, once you hit it with a TS-9 Mallet.

Dudes...

I have not enjoyed a piece of gear in as long as I can remember...The Origin 50H is incredibly loud and just fantastically tight in it's low end response, whether it's channeled trhough singe 12 or 4x12 cabinets...

The Origin line should not be sold without a Tube Screamer.
I like my OCD, or my Friedman.

The T.S., for me, works best with my Fender amps or guitars. You know, personal preference and all.

@Mitch Pearrow SJMP has the Ultimate Drive by Joyo, very reasonably priced. That thing is scary close to an OCD.

Maybe next time you two get together try that out, I got mine for under $40 new?
