I have ash deposits in my pool, and yesterday the air quality was very poor, and I am more than 30 miles from the fire.

I watched the whole video as it’s not a matter of IF, but WHEN it comes my way. That one in the video house had a very good fire break around it. I’m trying to convince the wife to let me pour 15-20ft of concrete all the way around the house. We have that already out front.
This place survived a big fire in 2007, called the Grass Valley fire. In the zoomed out pic the dirt colored area circled burned, took 191 homes. The zoomed in one is my place circled. There were fire fighters on my deck, just like in the video. It burned completely around the house.

Don,
I have a background as a firefighter, as I was a public safety officer (police/firefighter) for the City of Lindsay Department of Public Safety, so let me make an educated statement and say that you are indeed wise to be thinking of increasing your level of preparedness.
Thanks. The wife and I did the CERT training with the city of Anaheim 6 or so years ago. Also being prepared for the big one and being a Boy Scout, those 2 famous words are in my DNA....Be Prepared.
I've already had 3 large trees that were within a few feet of the house cut down 2 months ago. Next year we are going to demo the 1000 sq ft wood deck and replace it with concrete and glass. That will be a big help in fire defense too. I'm also thinking of putting a 2,000 gallon tank on the upper sloe of the property that could be used to put out embers when the sh#t hits the fan.
I was wondering about the extent of ash damage!
Dont burn yourself out there, my friend. So, up as usual today at 4am...I spend 4am to 6am running through our setlists daily and just generally keeping my skills sharp, then it's off to Burbank for a full day of work at the studio, then tonight is our first rehearsal since the evacuation. Our drummer will be hosting.
Only "burn" in the studio and at rehearsal... :dood:Dont burn yourself out there, my friend.
Does this mean that your bandmate's homes were spared from the fires? ...So, up as usual today at 4am...I spend 4am to 6am running through our setlists daily and just generally keeping my skills sharp, then it's off to Burbank for a full day of work at the studio, then tonight is our first rehearsal since the evacuation. I can’t believe that someone could be so clueless to set off pyrotechnics in a fire hazard area to begin with !! ??
My sister is up on Vancouver Island. She has terrible air quality, ash, smoke etc from the Washington Oregon fires.I have ash deposits in my pool, and yesterday the air quality was very poor, and I am more than 30 miles from the fire.
