18 Watt MojoTone Kit Build With Conversion To JCM800 Circuitry:

The only reason I went 50 is because of standing next to Scott’s cymbals, and not being able to hear myself very well, this was happening to often (every time we played) that I felt the clearer punch of the 50 watt Origin would cut better,
and it did, and I was able to hear what I was doing, and the big plus is it’s a very quiet rig.
Cheers

We often play in a meadow on a 53 foot semi trailer in a canyon. But, our "Official " home base is Brewcaipa in Yucaipa, California...

You know which tube amp fits in a shoulder bag...

I have had one since just after they came out....gigged it many times with my 2X12, and a few times with a 1X12. Still get a kick out of it running on the 7.5watt setting, and keeping up with a drummer :rolf: It has been the band backup head since I built my 18watter. I found it a little lacking for true clean headroom though. But from near clean, to filth, it worked alright. I do still dig it for some dirty bass!

I keep the drum kit behind me at all times and I try to keep at least 6 feet away from the kit if at all possible.

I stick close to my floor (vocal) monitor. My amp is elevated about 4-6 feet behind me running wide open. You can feel the palm muted sections punching you in the back, but my amp doesn't hurt your ears...

Nothing (IMHO) beats that feeling....

I've been doing OK with a 40 watt tube Marshall...I wonder if this 20 watt Origin will be adequate, or should I go 50 watt???
That all depends on how loud your clean tones need to be. You have already said before that you and your band like to rehearse and play at bodacious volumes. If you can get a clean tone you like by rolling off the guitar's volume and/or tone control, then you might be able to get away with it with a 25 to 30 watt TUBE amp. However, if you need them piano tones, then it's 50 watts plus!!!!

I'm a creature of overkill....you made the sale at "Bodacious Volumes."

Adrian: "you gonna let a little thing like food stop you from having the balls of a sonic moose???"

Me: "Ok...I ordered the 50 watt..."

Adrian: "Awesome!!! Send me your DSL.."
