Some Woodland Hills residents who spoke to Eyewitness News said they limited the time they spent outdoors, saying the sweltering heat was almost unbearable.

I've been motorcycle riding out in Inscription Canyon - North of Barstow - and recorded surface temperatures of 164°F on the black, volcanic rocks, with a temp gun

Chloride City and Furnace Creek are other frequent stops along my dirt bike trail and I've seen 130°F on my pocket A/C thermometer numerous times.
