The Kemper Thread:

Lol, setting up for today's tracking. All day yesterday, was pretending was profiling. On the Super 6, strait clean then turned it up for edge of break. Profile 1 & 2 would of been created.

Now, would I use a pedal onto the Kemper to boost those or would i profile the exact pedal setting would use.

The profiler takes a reading of all the frequency characteristics of any particular chain. It determines where it breaks up, where it cleans up, where it has more bass, treble etc. for that particular signal chain. With that in mind, you can have 2 settings - one with X settings, and one with X settings and Y pedal, almost always dirt. While you could introduce modulation pedals and the like, most profilers do not since the Kemper offers those effects in the system to be added or deleted later and you rarely want to be stuck with them.

too many --- makes my head hurt---- where my hammer?
....and the fact that I have a similar voice in the back of my head is a contributing factor for me too...That, and the fear of coughing up Mesa Boogie amounts of cash for something that I am not positive that I’ll want to commit to. A Boogie Mark 5:25 would certainly be loved for years....

those voices..they are very pro more gear. It would take a good year or 2 of intesnse therapy to back them down..lol

Have to say possibly one of the best investments i ever made for the studio. Just did bass a few minutes ago on..put mic in front pick your mid shift & hit record. I did get the SVT210av cab with it. Has DI, my studio guys uses mic & DI together, i just mic it, seems to capture a nice Ampeg grind..its been on every single song since started this recording journey. Can cover most bass ground needed. Not going to be loud..not its intended use..but it will capture"loud" in a small rig fr sure.

I turn it on........it goes BOOM......all I need

Our bassist/keyboardist uses one just like that for rehearsal and small venues. Very nice.

I was cruising right along making tons of music..then this kemper thread..lol

Actually the thread had me a/b so many amps this past few weeks. It was way worth it to learn why i play the way i do & what amps fit best. The mesa opened some doors i needed to go through for Side B coming up. No doubt i enjoy a good fender-marshall-peavey-mesa, each has their place & the kemper being able to pull em all of in a toaster is an amazing invention.

Not yet for me, but one day for sure..maybe if the we hit the heavy gigging again..profile my own amps & be done. That is the appeal to me as an original artist. That much versatility in a travel package.

Next Mesa on way today..woo hoo

Starting Side B today..Wish there was a way for me to profile each song, that would make it so easy.

If i get the floor unit. Could someone explain how much time would be involved in the profile situation? Is it really as simple as a few steps. 2 mic's will be on the cabs or in the room already tracking. thanks..maybe the next thing should be a kemper & not my friends mid 90's Dual rec that seems to be reaching ut t me..lol

Since you know how to set up mics, it will be very easy. Once the mics are in place, it takes an average of 3 minutes to capture, name and store a profile.

Thanks RVA..so basically could use the exact same mics.. One strait & 1 on the 45 & thats it? if so..man a Kemper makes a lot of sense.

In the studio, bands during tracking could have it caught..profiled once & for all..never to have to figure out how to make it all gel live with all the dif type songs & amps used.

For a gigger, the floorboard makes sense. In talking with my drummer as we set up next week. Have a blank slate..PA ready to assemble. We might set a wall up & fire at us during the set learn. Keep it down so we can all interact.

Not worried about gig set up at this point. When that time comes..we will set up traditional stage

You only need 1 mic. In fact, if you do not have a mixer, you only can use 1 mic. I use 2 mics summed to a single output and then to the kemper. Theoretically, you can use as many mics as your mixer can send to a single XLR output
