Drybell THE ENGINE

Plexi, how does it do for replicating the Green Hornet’s overdrive channel?

Yes John I got real close on the overdrive channel knobs set at 1:00 range with the order switch B/A

When I engage the preamp boost and overdrive channel on the Green Hornet the Drybell Engine falls short so does every pedal I own

The Engine is quiet with a Stratocaster like the KTR Klon have not tried to stack it with other pedals so far I got serial # 138 a few out their now. It's a winner.

As far as order in the signal chain I will move the engine and replace the Tony Iommi Boost when I get time.

I like Andy's playing and video demos. But on this one, he really gets into some pretty cool vibes, and IMO it's one of the best I've seen from him. Some of that good mojo has to be coming from him finding Zen with 'The Engine' pedal. Sounds like a very inspirational pedal.

I'm a bit confused on how the pedal's side-B is marketed though. The big chiefs at Drybell keep referring to this as having "Rangemaster" abilities. IMO, I hear more of a Klon type of clean boost, and nothing like a Rangemaster. Even in Andy's video demo, he never refers to side-B as a "Rangemaster".

@67plexi and/or @SG John :
If you max-out the Range control on side-B, do the the Low and High control still have an effect on the signal?

I didn’t max it out while playing tonight. I’ll give it a whirl tomorrow though. The Low and High controls were usable in the ranges I did try.
I really like being able to switch which side of the pedal is dominant.

I played with it some more tonight. Yes, the low and high controls function very well at all ranges of the Range and Level controls. I dimed them both in various settings, and they would have a very noticeable effect on the sound. Tomorrow I may try A-B comparisons with my Treble Booster to see how it sounds.
