Almost lost it all...

It looks like the Romex wire inside the wall got to hot, and the PVC insulation melted.
The wires temporarily got red hot when the PVC insulation failed. Then the breaker tripped, but too late.
That hot wire was enough to start the 4X6 post inside the wall burning.
Yup, electrical fire.
Bet you didn't see that?
Lucky the gas didn't explode.
Good to be alive today.

Now one more thing:
If the hole in the post was a bigger hole, it may not have ignited.
When Amp Mad Scientist becomes fully vested with a TTR Ambassadorship, he should be referred to as Ambassador of Forensics...

I don't want to be an ambassador.

There are plenty of ambassadors already, far more skilled and experienced in the arts of diplomacy than myself.
Let's face it, I don't live up to that standard. :pound-hand: I freely admit such.

I want to be
Amp Mad Scientist
"Heretic"

"Heretic" meaning (definition # 2) not necessarily a religious heretic. *
But rather,
2: one who differs in opinion from an accepted belief or doctrine : NONCONFORMIST
(Definition of HERETIC)

* Note: non-religious post. Non-political post.

Example
I invited 1 person to the forum. They were rejected almost immediately.
Does that sound like the act of an Ambassador?
Where is the ability to make mature sound decisions / personal judgments, that any Ambassador may require ? It's not there !

Lighten-up Francis... Hell, TTR made me an ambassador...

You were just trying to help him with his amp. Y'know, being a good dude and stuff. He got himself shown the door, not you.

Just had the insurance adjuster here. She’s going to start with a $30K initial payment and go from there as soon as we can get some contractor quotes. One heck of an expensive dinner !

No, No, sue the electricians. :pound-hand:
That Ho was too small.

How many wires were in that Ho?
What gauge wires were in that there Ho?
Was the wire aluminum wire or copper?
How big was that Ho?
What appliances did those wires supply?
What was the load on each of the wires?

Now calculate the estimated operating temperature of each wire in the Ho, based on ambient temperature.

Was that wire already over heating inside the Ho, before you BBQ'd?
In other words, did the BBQ just push an already "too hot" wire over the edge?
Or was the ignition fully attributed to the BBQ alone?

I Mean:
The BBQ caught fire yes.
Was this a defective BBQ? The BBQ looks like it was leaking gas?
But the fire ignition (clearly) was an electrical caused fire.
Too many inconsistencies. Not enough answers.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...............;.this is really disturbing.

I'm going to go now, and risk my own life to get a haircut.
Perhaps this will be my last haircut?
Should I get a Mohawk?

I use a 5/8” hole for 12 and 14 gauge wires. Not sure of that hole size as the 2x6 is gone :run: . No loads on the 15 amp circuits, copper wire. The other side of that wall is the kitchen, with cabinets and a counter top.

Something had to be smoldering for over an hour, which was the time between me turning off the grill (and not seeing any smoke or flames) and the actual fire.

Glad to hear no loss of life or injury, and your property is saved.
Damaged yes, but intact nonetheless.
Glad the outcome was not much, much worse.

A reminder of how daily life is actually, or at least potentially, pretty dangerous.

If it's 12 GA wire, it must have been a 20 amp circuit.
Does that wire lead to a plug on the BBQ wall, and did that plug melt?

BTW, my haircut turned out great.

15 amp circuits, so 14/2 wire. Yes that is an outlet where the grill was. Only the IP camera was plugged in. Both are toast but the outlet did not melt, the fire was burning the other way.
