How Much Would You Pay for a Cab???

Yes, but pricey; over $600 for the Compact Thiele 1x12 cab. I've never seen that 1x10 that you linked to, it might be available here soon, but probably at around $500 - I'm gonna keep on the look out just in case.
In the USA the Mesa 1x12 Thiele cabs, from Sweetwater, are $500 with free shipping. The Mesa 1x10 cab is definitely something new from Mesa.

Are the deals better for you if ordering from Thomann's?

Chris, if you still have it in few months, I’ll take it off your hands. I’m getting a quote to have the new rehearsal studio floor put in and that will probably be in April. Then I’ll have a place to put and use it !

It's at my office so no need to move it in a hurry. I'll save it for you.

I have 4 regular Greenbacks in the A cab and Greenbacks top/Vintage 30s bottom in the Marshall B cab. None of them are the fancy made in England versions. I think they sound fantastic for what I am trying to do.

Very nice indeed. The greenbacks are a good goto at a reasonable price.

Mesa seems to be pricey everywhere. Is their entire product line made in the U.S.?

Yes and yes.

Ebay and Reverb have been my friends for speakers. It's usually pretty easy to find newer take outs. I probably average $90-$100 per speaker shipped to me versus the usual $125-$135 for new models. It has worked out well for me so far.

Not everywhere ships to Korea (many US stores don't; good local US deals usually don't.

No, Thomann are expensive for Mesa, and anything over 400,000 (from anywhere) incurs 20% (sometimes 30%) import tax. Even those HB/Palmer cabs, with shipping (about $50) to Korea work out more expensive than the Laney cab I posted.

$50 shipping and 20-30% import tax can add quite a lot to the cost, i.e. a $400 purchase becomes a $540-$585 purchase... Sometimes it works out ok if the item has high EU tax (depends on origin, agreements, etc) then that's deducted by Thomann - but I need that to be 25%+ to even out. The new amp would have been US$670 if I bought it from the UK, and will cost US$600 all in from Thomann (including delivery and Korean import tax), so that has worked out well for me.

You've all given me lots of ideas from this thread and the speaker threads, so now I just want the baby amp to turn up so I can check out what improvements need to be made and which route to take. I had a good old play yesterday and the Yamaha THR was a tad limiting...

Thanks Chris. We have a lot going on in the next 30 days. We close escrow on the Anaheim Hill place on 3/16. We’re doing the final big move on 3/10-3/11. We are having the entire ground floor of the new place flooring redone in wood next week and the entire upstairs carpet replaced next week too, whew. Moved 10 guitars today. We stopped at Home Depot and will called some stuff. The ride up here this afternoon reminded me of the old Dodge Magnum station wagon commercial. “You got a hemi it that?” Me - “No, but I got 10 guitars, 3 toilets, 2 trash cans, and some fine china”.

When you have time, Don - the forum is looking forward to your Gear Megathread, very much so...

I have never been impressed with Yamaha THR.

For what it is (does), I do not know that it has an equal. Everyone has different applications, I find it useful as a small desktop amp which I also run my computer sounds through (basically, my Mac Mini output speakers), so I get great stereo sound on Netflix, Youtube, etc and also have a decent low volume desktop amps with a few effects; many folks say it's a good recording device too. Because I'm in a small space, company provided accom, it's perfect.

But, it won't replace a 5w tube amp (or even a 1w tube amp) or a Fender Princeton/Marshall Studio, etc. So, sometimes, when playing away, you do feel you'd like something more...

Not all G12T-75s are the same. They made many, many changes to that speaker over the years. I have two '87 Silver Jubilee 4x12 A cabs with them. They are from the first couple of years that they made that style speaker. They are very efficient, and don't break up until really pushed. When I was gigging with them, I used an '89 JTM-45 Reissue and a '79 100 watt 2203 Master Lead. We did some outdoor gigs where you could hear me crystal clear well into the next county. IMHO, I don't think any of the G12T-75 speakers after the mid '90s sound anywhere near as good as the earlier ones. Especially current production. Since there are many out there, you may be able to score a pair used, broken in, and cheap. It's not like you're trying to get a set of pre-Pulsonic G12M-25 speakers.

I'm not sure how they would pair with a V30, as they are completely different animals. Maybe someone else has tried it, and can give better information.

Try Peavey Blue Marvels.........no really Im not kidding---
I recently re wired things so I can run ALL my heads (and combos) through my Peavey 12" speaker ---- it makes low end crap sound good and high end crap sound BETTER.....
and the speakers can be had for cheap---- well here anyway..................

Hi @Mr Grumpy. Not sure if you ever made your choice, but I can chime in for the Zilla Compact.
I was looking to get a Zilla Mini Modern 112 cab made up but spotted a Compact in my LGS unloaded for £89 (should be £255).

I snapped it up and put in the V-Type I swapped out of my DSL40CR.
It now sits under the DSL and is a (nearly) perfect match.
Construction is spot on and I wouldn't hesitate to get another Zilla cab.
