The Dirt Cheap Gibson "Guitar Of The Month" We All Laughed At.

The description of the item says it is brand new, never sold. But, it is described as NOS from 2007 - received directly from Gibson.

So, if the item is NOS, it is brand new, and has never been sold, that means someone has not been able to sell this guitar for TEN YEARS! The ad doesn't say when the dealer acquired it. Maybe, he just got it recently from Gibson. Regardless, Gibson either couldn't sell it because most dealers didn't want Reverse Vs, or this dealer has had millenial stock that he hasn't been able to sell to retail customers.

I understand that NOS items can remain at a manufacturer's factory for many years...but those are usually parts used in the build process - not entire, completed end items.

But, I guess anything's possible.

I can't really blame the dealer. Perhaps, the dealer bought it "just to see what would happen." I admire his risk-taking. But, people just don't want a goofy-looking guitar.

I don't quite understand the $2299.00 price tag, though. It seems a bit steep if you're trying to move stock. Maybe he figures a collector will pay that.

The seller is Willcut Guitars, too. There might be a little prestige involved in buying from them, too. Us Humans are a funny bunch... :ROFLMAO:

There is a bunch of them om ebay and reverb, I know the dudes at Willcut, they're not cheap.

Well TBTH, I'm not a V fan and even more so not a reverse V fan. I'm not saying that Vs are a bad guitar, just not my cup of tea.

to me the standard V guitar shape is a Classic shape just like the Strat,Lester,SG,Tele,335 ect.so its just wrong to mess with those Classic shapes. the reverse Firebird and such at least looked good.

Supposedly, the original limited run of 400 Reverse Vs was successful enough that Gibson made another limited run of 900 in 2008.

But, I have never actually seen anyone play one. They may sound great, though.

My guess?

I think those who bought them are hoping to use them as an investment. Just my opinion.
