Most expensive guitar ever sold

Well, Ivan you may have experienced some good ones, but pretty sure a number of our members and of course many other players the world over, have found plenty of flaws in their guitars.

In my case, I have one that has something I would normally not care about. But in this case, this is an otherwise beautiful guitar that has developed bubble like clear coat spots around the tuning machines on the front of the head stock. Having searched other forums, numerous other people have expereinced this on their late 2000-2015 ish LP's and Gib actually has replaced the guitars rather than fix the flawed ones under warranty.

AFAIK the Black Strat proceeds went to charity too, along with the money from the rest of Gilmour's collection - around 24½ million dollars worth.

There's a guy who really cares about saving the planet. You'd almost think he & his kids lived there or something.

Well we know for sure its not a Gibson that holds the highest value. Nothing beats a High priced Fender Strat, nothing.

Quality control was definitely on a downward slope in that era, though there were still good examples. Both my 2012 LP traditional & 2013 60's tribute SG have no problems, but I was referring to more current Gibson's. The ones I looked at & purchased one of were all 2019 models. Cheers

Quality control was definitely on a downhill slope during that era, though there were still good examples. Both my 2012 LP traditional & 2013 60's tribute SG have no problem. I was referring to more current Gibsons though. The guitars I looked at & purchased one of were all 2019 models. Cheers

Right. There is no way that guitar is "worth" the money. The buyer would never get it back in resale, it was only that valuable within the context it was sold.
