NPAD - Kemper

New Profiling Amp Day -

We recently had a very cool thread on the future of tubes/tube amps which inspired some great points and divergent opinions. So for the sake of science (not because I wanted new gear - Hi Honey!), I got a Kemper. It will probably arrive tomorrow (not TODAY as scheduled - grrr). Anyway, I am always up for some science experiments. I intend on profiling my amps and then posting clips of both the real amp and the Kemper for everyone's evaluation. Any other experiment requests are welcome.

That Kemper is going to be wild. I would like to try one someday. Which one did you get?
I got the unpowered head (toaster). TB Don gave me powered monitors and as a change, I can route it through any of the FX sections of my amps. Since I already have a patch panel for the FX sections of my amps (so I can share pedals across their loops), it will be very easy. I presently have 10 amps, 8 with FX sections, and then the monitors, so I figure I did not need the powered Kemper.

^ that fella really gets on my wick, a master of false information... That other Aussie, Brent somebody, is really good though.

Ray, look at all those buttons and knobs, it's frightening to look at!
Funny, I thought he was the universally un-objectionable type!!

Yes, the software is even more daunting. It runs deep, but you can get by with the basics. We shall see how deep down this rabbit hole I go

I love mine and always have. When I sold my first one I regretted it almost immediately and bought another one in short order.

You'll be surprised at the great sounds you can get from it. Make sure to update to the very latest software version and install the new Rig Manager 3
on your PC. The unit is easier to control through Rig Manager, but I think I already told you this...

Let me know what you think when you get it...

Enjoy!

With the new Rig Manager 3 you don't have to touch any of those knobs except the power button!

...and I just checked my Kemper folder. 11 GB and over 30,000 profiles. Of course I use about 10 of those! :pound-hand:
