Thanks. I'm super stoked with it. Gibson seems to have really stepped up with this model & they knocked this one out of the park. If your after an SG, do yourself a favour & check a few of these standard 61's out, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
A little bit of info on the 61r/61t pickups. These are assymetrically wound A5 types, but the assymetrical wind is the opposite of other Gibson buckers in that they have more winds on the "screw" coil. Typically the slug coil gets more turns. These have 5,000 turns on the slug coil & 5,261 turns on the screw coil. DC resistance is 7.84~7.89k. I'm imagining that more turns on the screw coil would account for the bridge pickups brightness I mentioned previously. I'm looking forward to getting it out to the rehearsal space today & really cranking it through my JMP50 clone. Cheers

I ordered a set of Faber locking tailpiece studs. Not for any reason other than that I put these on all my Gibsons. I like having the tailpiece locked down solidly to the body. The only other modification will be to change the wiring to the 50's scheme. As I have quite a few K40Y-9 caps I'll throw a set in & put the orange drops in with the case candy. I'll have to remember to give my other guitars some love soon, haven't played anything else since getting this. Cheers
 
Ok, the Faber locking tailpiece studs arrived today. Loosing the strings allowed the tailpiece to be lifted clear. Carefully removed the paper O-rings from the tops of the inserts, without damaging the finish & then used the middle sized shims. Re-assembled & tuned to get this tailpiece height

Strings are well clear of the back of the bridge. It does seem a little louder acoustically. I love feeling the string vibrations through the body & neck of SG's. I'll plug it through an amp tomorrow. Cheers
 
Th Faber locking studs are great because Gibson bridges/tails move too much causing various problems, imho. The Faber solution keeps everything rock solid and improved playability and sound.
