What Do You All Think About This Lester?

Are you suggesting it might be the "Richlite"?

Didn't think about that. Hmmm.

On closer look, I don't think it is because of the grain and the spec for that year - it's just a really dark rosewood. But, I had a richlite acoustic which I really didn't like teh feel of, so that plays on my mind when I see a board looking that dark and consistent.

Guaranteed to be a very dark Rosewood board by the seller who is delivering it in person Monday. He said it's one of the darkest Rosewood boards he's ever seen.

The dude has a recording studio and some killer guitars. His reputation is stellar and he's one of the nicest guys I've ever dealt with!

If it plays as good as it looks then you've got something special there - I'm not a fan of tops, but that one is gorgeous. Much prefer the upgraded puppies to 57s too. The guitar looks just about perfect.

Righton, I'm a rosewood or ebony man myself.

Guess I'm too "old school" for manmade fretboards. He's just fallen onto an excellent example I guess.

Here's to @Sp8ctre, gonna corner the market lol. :beers:

Take a look at the headstock pic with the nut showing. You can clearly see the grain.

I've had a couple of Richlite boards and they are smooth and hard with no grain, not even simulated...
Think we all expect the worst case scenarios, for once the quality exceeded expectations, really got some lookers in the recent past! Good on you brotha.

I'm sure you do, sweet looking.

Like the reflectors. I'm spoiled bt the neck size, like the 60's carve.

But who am I fooling, love em' all.
I'm really torn on the necks. I've got 2 with the 60's slim taper, two with the assymetrical slim taper and the traditional with the fatter neck. They all feel good in a different way. Since I wrap my thumb a lot I think the more round neck feels a bit better, but not as fast. Current Fender necks are right out.

Just found this out from Gibson...

The format of your serial number (134820497) is consistent with a number which would have been stamped on the instrument on the 348th day of 2012, so it would have been one of the early 2013 Les Paul Traditional models which had the solid mahogany non-weight-relieved body.

Didn't think about that. Hmmm.
2013 Traditional's definitely have a rosewood board, & it's a single slab of rosewood, unlike some made around that time frame that had the multi-layer rosewood board (I don't remember exactly which years had these).
Gibson was using some nice dark fingerboards around this time. Here's a pic of my late-ish 2012 traditionalIMG_20200330_072214.jpg
Though the 'board isn't as dark as some (& it's looking a bit grimey & dry, due for a clean & oil), it's still representative of the darkish boards they were using at the time. Enjoy that fine traditional when it arrives. Cheers
