Jackson San Dimas Neck Rotation:

I been wanting to correct this for a while, but wasn't sure how to proceed. On my Jackson Adrian Smith, the neck pocket - or the neck itself - is machined in such a way that with equal string heights, the Floyd ridge is tilted very close to the body on the treble side, and is up much higher on the bass side. Although the guitar works regularly and doesn't seem to have tuning issues, I want to correct it. The pocket fits super tight, so it's an angularity issue. I need to rotate my neck, not shim for string angle.

Thoughts????

If the guitar works great, doesn't have any tuning issues, the playability is good and you like the sound then leave it be. :D

I very much doubt you will heed this sage advice... :p

I really don't do much anymore....with guitars anyways.

i just roll out my tried and true rig and just play and that's it. I don't experiment, run the same strings for 20 years or more and just play the hell out of this stuff. yesterday, I stopped by a buddy's shop on the way home from the studio in Burbank and used his compressor to blast off all the pick dust and the like from my gear and guitars. After that, a little spray wax and back into the cases.

True, I guess I can just leave it, but I am getting bridge/body contact on the treble side when pitching up on some phrases...

I didnt have any issue with it -- however I did notice it--but Im not BIG on dive bombs and squeels--- and I have a very light playing style--so again wasnt an issue--

Id say if all works/sounds/plays well......why risk gooching it?

I have found in my life in many areas (not just guitars) if it works leave it alone ---- because after you change it --- it might not

or in other words
if it aint broke dont fix it

Just for fun, here's my daily plan for yesterday....

If I am understanding this right: can you shim the only treble side of the pocket to bring things closer to true?
It may be a compromise of sorts to achieve "good enough".

I know you like things just right, but it is worth considering.

Or, dont sweat the pocket, just rock it!!
