I Was Once Known As 'El Extremo' - My Not-So-New Motorcycle Saga:

Brake pedal had a plastic bushing, which - like a stinker - came out in chunks. I machined a replacement out of a piece mild steel tubing...actually a BMW heater hose nipple. I used O-rings from a MBZ transmission overhaul kit to replace the felt washers and give a positive seal....

Going to enter the 50+ super moto
That’s a combination of dirt and street, I have a buddy that runs the scrambles event I think, it’s on the truck track , so it may be called the TT event, jumps are not a massive as the outdoor national track or the REM track , nothing to do with the band of the same name.
Great idea brother, but work on getting in shape for it ..
I would probably come in dead last lol
Cheers

The plastic bushing came out like a stinker - in chunks. Its avaiable NOS, but expensive and light duty.

I made one from mild steel...

The bushing is protected by felt washers

So, my issue was, when i had an O-ring that gaveled a good seal, it had too much drag on the brake lever. I was measuring 4-5lbs required to return the brake pedal - way more than the return spring was capable of producing.
Digging through old Mercedes auto trans kits, i found the solution in the form of a square-profile Teflon sealing ring that fits perfectly in the cupped portion of the washer.
An O-ring is used in the center of the Teflon ring to seal the bearing surface of the pivot bolt and this actually touches the I.D. of the Teflon ring, so the sealing effect is actually doubled.
The pedal is now super smooth and requires only 12oz of pull to fully return..
