For those of you who do gigs, What equipment ae you using? What amp or amps , guitars , mics, etc. I gig on my own, my guitar that I mainly use is my Godin progression Strat Plus, I like it because I have H.D.R so it works great with the Fishman loudbox mini that I use. The Loudbox is an acoustic amp and with using the electric with H.D.R, I can get the active tones I am looking for. I use the Shure 58 Mic, which I find works well with my vocals, and I have to say I'm impressed with the P.A with the LoudBox . Its truly amazing the voice quality that comes out of that 8inch speaker, and the sounds it produces in a small light weight unit. And its no slouch at 60 watts, it has plenty of blast for a small venue. This setup works good for me when I'm out and about. DSC00154.JPGDSC00155.JPGDSC00062.JPG
 
Whelp, it’s been a few years but at the time it was almost always: Les Paul, because they are the most versatile guitars ever made and you can pull off anything with one; Mesa-Boogie Mark 5:25 because its small and light, sounds amazing, and 25 watts is more than enough; most of the time a 1x12 cab with option for a 2x12 or 4x12 depending on the size of the room; minimal pedalboard, as few things to go wrong as possible, only the handful needed for the material.

In the old days I would drag along a backup guitar but strings are so much better than they used to be I don’t bother anymore, just put a new set on before I play.

Damn, this makes me want to get out and gig again.
 
Doing performances is a lot of fun and make a few bucks to boot. But gball we will have to agree to disagree about versatility of guitars. My Godin Progression Strat with H.D.R is like having 10 pickups having the access to passive and active pickups . To me this Strat is more versatile than a Les Paul. And even still a Strat of any kind is just as versatile as any Les Paul IMHO. And I encourage you to get out there and do some gigs.:)
 
For me, "The Song Remains The Same," as does my amp, board and guitars.

I currently own only 4 guitars.

1. Schecter C1-FR Tuned to Eb - My #1

2. Jackson San Dimas - Tuned to Std -

3. Homemade Les Paul - Tuned to D Std

4. Homemade Double-Neck - Tuned to Eb

Each has a specific role, which accounts for the different tunings.

Live, i use one of my DSL40C'S and my never-changing board. That's really it.

On our new setlist, i am playing slide and keys, as well as lead and backing vocals.

Mic data is unknown to me as it is handled by the sound dude through the PA...

I hear ya, use what works for you. I just know from many years experience that no 25.5" scale guitar is going to ever do what I personally need it to for the majority of what I play. I've owned a truckload of Strats, Superstrats, Teles, and all kinds of derivatives and not a one of them has ever had the grunt of a 24.75" scale (no matter the configuration or pickups), but meanwhile I can get a Les Paul to cop a reasonable impression of any of them, at least convincing enough for live use. YMMV.

We have manged to hold our band together going on six years not an easy task.
In the summer we get a lot of cruse ship traffic one and a half million last year
As far as making money playing music good luck on that one Police state has destroyed that
Example in the past we had a great show band 2000 to 2008 averaged $5,000.00 per show now lucky to get $400.00 per gig
The current trend is drag queen shows homie don't play that way
Gear two PA systems Two drum sets one for practice Drum Workshop Collectors set live Ludwig Maple USA in Bonham sizes huge sound
We mic everything and flight cases or gig bags for everything keeps the gear mint for transport
Guitar amps I build my own guitars it vary s
 
The only band I play in is an acoustic trio. I play my Yamaha LL16M through a small pedalboard into whatever house PA is available. I do play in live bar jams where I play whatever guitar and amp feels right on the day, usually my Gibson SG Special straight into a Traynor YCVWR.
