My B-day present to me

Marshall kinda nearly kills it so often, I feel the Origin and Class5 were nearly great amps, but these studio series are a home run.
(To be fair, the Origin 20/50 with the right speaker and decent volume are really good too.)

Those amps you've mentioned I'd play any time. The Marshall vintage circuits are MY favs. My wheelhouse. So love interacting with them. I'm happy to play anything especially Marshall.

^ Sounds really good (although that speaker has a trebly edge that I'm not fond of).

DSLs are really nice (I've only had the 5 watt - putt a greenback in it and was much improved), but I'm not fond of the standard speakers. They are a very versatile amp. You can easily justify having a DSL and a plexi style amp - very different beasts.

Yeah, I like them a lot. Your new head is a level above the others though.

I have a little baby 5 watt amp on the way which is an old style plexi clone - should come this week. I had an Origin 20 which sounded great once I put a greenback in it, but I sold it off because I thought I was heading for the UK... Changed my mind, and am working in Korea for another 4 years (or that's the plan).

Gawd I love plexi vintage Marshall best. The clips of the SC are going into a Jensen Falcon. Good speaker for bright amps. I love GB speakers. I have a 412 of them. My SC has not been in the same room yet. I wanted to see what the SC could do going into my 112's one with the Falcon the other a V-series. Having great fun!

The 5 watt amp sounds interesting. Especially if it's plexi like. It's gonna be a loud 5 watts! Does it have a name?

A good birthday indeed. I don't know the Falcon speaker, but the V-series cut through and sound really good, but the 4x12 with GBs is gonna be amazing with that head - I once went shopping for an SG, plugged it into an AC30 (it was set pretty loud) and strummed a chord; wonderful feeling. When you plug into that 4x12, you're gonna be mindblown - it's gonna be memorable.

I'm just in an apartment and can't play loud, but I want good tones - I hope this is the right solution.

I don't think that 8" will do..., so I'm thinking of maybe a 10" creamback (which Cornwell say fits) or buying a 1x12 cab; hence my other threads; need to hear the amp first to better understand what speaker improvements I'll need.

It's not gonna be as good as your Studio, but I'm hoping it'll be the right amp for my purposes.

I have beat the poop out of my 5150 3 412 with my big iron amps it's careless. PLexi, JMP, 1990I 120watts,1960I 150 watts loud and proud. I should of stuffed those black backs(heritage)GB's. It's still kicking ass I'm blown away. Those cabs are cheaper than the Marshall equivalent. Bold and powerful.

my point? Slow down me. Try other than. Easier when gold sits in your room. Good for me as playing vintage Marshall is worth playing with.

can't wait to hear about it. I hope it kills.

^ we'll see - it might need a bit more drive, not sure, so I got an OCD to push it along if need be. Should be a decent low volume amp.

These two both sound really good, it's a nice comparison:

there ok.hehe.

what version OCD do you have? Reason I ask is I couldn't get V-4 to do my ears right. But those are my ears. I'm just curious and if that pedal does it? It does it.
