Yuck... I have never liked Grovers on a Gibson. But, if you're gonna put those ugly things on a Gibson then at least you'd choose the locking variety, right?

4 of my 5 Gibsons have Grovers from the factory. One has locking tulips and the other 3 have locking kidneys. The V didn't come with locking tuners, but I had a set so I threw them on. My Classic came with Gibson branded Klusons. Now it has actual Klusons I like them all equally well.

From the factory I have:
2 regular Grover
1 locking Grover
1 Steinberger
1 Schaller
2 Gibson Deluxe

I'm happy with all but inching closer to replacing the Deluxe tuners. They just don't feel as stout as the others when you use them.

I really like the Grover’s on a Gibby. Especially the tulip keys instead of the kidney shaped keys.

It's just a taste thing. If they're functional then they're good. For some reason, my puny little mind likes the basic deluxe tuners, especially the deluxe.

Same here. I also like those Kluson Revolution tuners too. They're a direct-replacement on guitars with stock Deluxe tuners and they have a version with metal tulips. They look great.

The locking Kluson Revolution tuners are interesting, but look a bit weighty on the back.

I got some new Kluson 'Supreme' Button Strip Tuners, 18:1, and they are very smooth. Work great.

No strip Klusons, Cadorman? You'll be needing to buy yourself another guitar; I believe the reissue 63 comes with them:

what the crap ever the bass tuners are Squire/Epiphone and Sterling Music Man use are.....
Musiclilly tulip tuners
and GROTE stock tuners on a 169.00 Jazz box.......

and you know amazingly -- though there are DRASTIC price/value differences between them all----- they all to a 1 --- friggin work

so whats the big deal really? they TUNE the guitar -- thats ALL they have to do.. turn --HOLD-- turn -- hold--

Id like to try some Banjo tuners........

^ you know, eESGe, I had those really ugly Steinberger things on an SG Future Triibute, and I really liked them - they didn't look right at all, and they didn't hold tune any better than other tuners, but nice fine-tuning and very simple to put new strings on/

No matter what Gibson tuners we get, they will never be as good as the Fender vintage; best tuners ever made - simple and sexy and functional and fandabbydoubledozzy.

Ahhh...the old Chicken Scratch Junior from the little loved 2015 line. Zero nut and all, I liked them just fine.

its a damn serviceable lump of mahogany after some "Tweaks" --- its like a hammer-- its does-- what its supposed to and does it well....period

The Steinbergers actually look the part on a Firebird IMO. At least I don't feel any desire to remove them, and they function fine once you get used to them, but really I'd rather a set of Grovers on there.

Can't agree on the Fender tuners though. They always seem to develop some play in them as they age. Maybe I'm hard on them? I do like that they are "locking" tuners though.

You might be the first person I've heard dissing those glorious Fender Vintagers! But, if that's your experience then there may be something in that.
