Ok, first things first.
A huge THANK YOU to all my brethren for the help on my first mixing experience. Very generous of you all with your time and knowledge.

I'm in the middle of "mastering", seems to be going well, but the render process is next.

Just wanted to make a "fair warning" post, I will be needing guidance in the render process.

Paging my mentor @Thatbastarddon , now's the chance to put me ignore, so I can't bother you. If you don't, expect the stupidity to commence starting tonight!

Seriously, feel so fortunate to have ALL of you holding my hand, and am just having a blast, this daw recording is like crack for the ears, bet you can't just eat one!

Talk to you all soon enough, off to the virtual salt mine!

Peace

guess decide what platform you re rendering to..i use flac for Soundcloud & that seems to have the least affect when they squash it some more

my website forces me to sell in mp3..so guess everybody can download into compatable forms...yes its not as good as before the render......have actually adjusted the mix for the platforms that host based on the extra squash..sometimes i sample them then come back and remix..got it pretty good now....in the process of mastering 4 CD's that are all in a dif mix state..from the studio to my stuff...wow what a chore...

Yes, my friend, one of my first of many topics I'll need help with.
Be ready, you're on the go to list as well lol. Hope you don't mind, but I like your stuff so much wouldn't mind using you as a template!

i can give you the stupid persons version....in the end..it's the ears

biggest tip i ever got in studio

1)if you have a song..good song...it will flow...even the studio gets emotionally into it,,the producer told me.. a good songs finds its way down the path on its own..the studio guys can only do so much to a song with no flow

2) my fav...100% true..get it right at capture...don't leave it till mix...almost no mixing left for me..have spennt many hours ...many hours on these amps & speakers, put the right speakers & guitars together to create the live sound..then record it exactly like that....we do sound exactly like the CD';s live... really need a 2nd guitarist & would rather play bass..lol
Now there's some wisdom right here in this post.
Good music trumps all!

This guy has all kinds of info on recording

I am sorry I have to say it------- he DOES have some usefull info -- and he DOES put some goo d information out -- AND I CREDIT HIM FOR THAT ---

but his smarmy holier than thou I KNOW IT ALL ATTITUDE makes me wanna take him out in the swamp and teach him to swim ---- with cinder block ankle weights----

he has good info--- but his delivery makes me want to beat him to death with a Peavey T-40 .........

I just dont like the guy--- dont let my "issues" taint your view he DOES put out some usefull -- helpful and GOOD videos and info--
Ok, watched it, wow I'm such a dumbazz on this. Knows his bidness for sure

Don't think I'll be taking it to that degree, details, details.

I'm not smart enough to do it like that, so my plan is to make sure it sounds good out of the amps, room etc.... I'm going to go with @BFT Gibson idea of making sure you have got the goods right away, and a good song with good performance trumps any plugins.

Ya that guy has spent alot of time holed up in the studio feeling, definitely a smart person.......
