Well, late last year I posted that the wife and I bought a place in Lake Arrowhead that had 1,400 sq ft of “build up” area under the main house that is my canvas, with a 250 sq ft rehearsal studio in the plans.
Over the holiday break we made the decision to sell our Anaheim Hills place much sooner than planned. I put the numbers in a spreadsheet and looked at the wife and said “what are we doing still working”. My last day was 1/31, 43 years to the day that I started. Next Friday is my wife’s last day.
To make a really long story short, our next-door neighbor saw moving trucks out front a few weeks back as we were thinning out the house to get ready to take pictures and then list it. She comes over a few days latter and says she has a friend who is really interested in the neighborhood and would like to see the house. Sure, we said, as the place was full of boxes and packing materials. So, the friend and her husband come over the next day, love the place, and made us an offer the next day. She is a real estate agent and we discussed and agreed on doing for-sale-by-owner! We saved $65K is real estate agent fees (5% here in CA) and we got more than we were going to list for. We split the $65K with the buyer and escrow closes on 3/16. It’s been quite a hectic last 2 months. If I look back 6 months ago, we planned on staying here for another 10 years before looking to move, but fate and destiny rained down on us, and here we are getting ready to move everything else in 3 weeks.
So, back to the thread topic. I’ve been moving guitars to the mancave to do the first batch move. I’m guessing I’ll need to do 4 or 5 round trips to get the guitars and amps all moved in a Honda Pilot. Thank goodness it’s only 60 miles away.
After we get settled in I’ll start a studio build thread; its gonna a take awhile and I’ll be asking for help on how and what stuff to do.
