Just Watched Angus...

You know, thru out the years I've hear a lot of people/talk about SG going out tune (tuning stability issues) and pretty much the same thing for Fender Stratocasters (being floated for trem work). But, it can't be too bad, I mean, look at all the Pro, made it big, players using both. An SG is still probably my most favorite do to upper neck access. A Les Paul is still probably my favorite slinging guitar - just slings great standing up and playing - fit the pocket type thing. Fender strats? Well, I've never disliked them, but never really owned too many either. I always want an SG. Still do. And even though I'm attempting to do the strat life thing now days I still want an SG. SG=Super Great doesn't it ;)

SG...yes !! Hunting hum/p90 ever since got the LP like that. Been listening to early Sabbath....really just letting those first early riff's set in. How good they are...also ..that walking bluesy bass line & very mthodical drums with many up & downs ...just great stuff..then OZ...they were so rad for back then & maybe its the in the pocket metal riff...without all the theatrics is what bangs my head afterall

Well I don't have one yet. Not sure when I'll buy another guitar, I may consider one if I can overcome my fetish for Vs

Thing is, and I can't put my finger on it exactly, SG's are almost their own category. They do most of what a Les Paul does (they were designed as the updated LP after all) but have something special going on in the feel and sound that is different from the LP or other all-hog Gibsons; They don't have the low-end punch or high-end bite that a LP has but the midrange has presence and snarl in a way that no other guitar has, which I think may be from a combination of the very thin body and neck joint. They're more comfortable and lighter than Fenders but can enter that sonic territory at times, especially ones with single-coils. I dunno, they are just special and everyone should have one.
