To What Are Yee Listenin' Right Now?

Got a hankerin for some Foreigner as I was cruisin the roads around town today. I still remember this coming out when I was about 14. I absolutely love how the first note of this song can almost make you jump out of your seat if it is loud enough and you aren't expecting it.

Don't be afraid to listen to something different!

Joe is sure one of my favourite guitarists when I first started playing guitar about 30 years ago. I've seen him in a few TV interviews with his guitar and picked up some cool whammy bar tricks from him. Good choice of music BocceBall69er!:yesway:

I've seen him a few times in very small venues..an amazing experience. He surrounds himself with amazing talent too.

Speaking of listening to music, On Friday my wife asked me to play each of my guitars for her, and put on a concert. A lot of pressure, I tells ya.
Her least favorite was the LesPaul followed by the SG! In fact, she had me stop playing the LP rather quick like. Ouch!!

Well, we're still talking, but the surprise of the night was her favorite two. Second place was the strat.
#1, was my ibanez JS2400. Satch would have been proud. But I was just damn surprised.

The winner!

Interesting!!!

My wife has no real interest in music, but she will, occasionally, comment on which guitar sounds most 'pleasing' to her ear....It's always the Schechter...

Now, having said that, look at the really fast, technical players (whom I know little about and do not follow) like Vai, Strauss, Satriani...all prefer the Wizard Neck of the Ibanez. Each time you see a really fast/technical "unknown" they are frequently seen with an Ibanez.

Of course, Yngwie still prefers the scalloped neck Strats, but by and large, it's Ibanez.

Here is what I have learned in back-to-back comparisons with my 3 guitars - 1987 Stratocaster Squire, 2005 Schechter Hellraiser and 2016 Gibson SG.

All three are good playing instruments and all three have good tone. However, notes fret easier on the Schechter. I find that I play with less effort. I use less strength for a given movement. Notes are more accurate without thinking about them.

I am sure the dual-radius fretboard, and the unique angle of entry between neck and body has a lot to do with that too.

One session player I know recently appeared at the studio complex with an Ibanez, and we all poked fun at him, because he was known for showing up with a very valuable, antique Gibson Les Paul. When questioned, he replied, "After playing this Wizard neck, Gibson feels like a 2x4 with speed bumps for frets..."
