Univibes

Scored a used Roto Machine this week. I'm all set for vibe but have been jonesing for a rotary pedal, and the Roto Machine is a pretty good one. It has the classic Leslie accelerate/decelerate, and a drive knob to add a bit of grit.

These were cheap on the used market until a year or so ago and suddenly they shot up. At $60 I figured this one was worth it.

Cool. I just watched a YouTube demo of the Line 6 Roto Machine. Some really nice sounding roto effects, as well as some spacey ones. Congrats on your score, enjoy. Cheers

I had a little trouble getting it working. It was powering up strangely, where I had to jiggle one of the switches before the pilot would light, and even once it lit no signal was getting through. Tried a different power supply, then a battery. No luck. Finally I decided to remove the effect unit from the pedal housing (this is one of the ToneCore pedals, where the modular processor boxes mount into a standard housing that fits them all) and that fixed it. Not sure whether that is a common problem for this line of effects but it worked for me.

The pedal sounds great after a blackface-flavored drive. And I really like the speed-up/slow-down on its most gradual setting (there are three).

The only issue now is making room for it on a pedalboard. Do I want to remove a drive pedal? or a chorus or vibe? or replace reverb, which I use only seldom?
