I Was Once Known As 'El Extremo' - My Not-So-New Motorcycle Saga:

I see a LOT of the Can AM Spyders round here --- (usually "older" bikers) ---I have a plan for the Tiger if I reach a point I cant handle its girth/height (its a TALL bike and very top heavy when the 7.5 gallon tank is full

Here's my route. The red star is the XR500 and the blue pin is my destination...Out of the way and avoiding the RXR Police. No paved roads are raveled in this route:

Route 2 - More direct, more chance of encounters with RXR Police...Believe it or not, you come back into the city from the south in a cement culvert and never rid on public roads...

Robert, I just drove the 138 from the 15 today for the first time. Had to go to Victorville to pick up a FedEx package and then took the back way into Lake Arrowhead. I can’t wait to take the vette out on that road, it will be a blast. No traffic at all.

My wild side was a little tamer than most. But then I did grow up in a small farming community where many of my friend were farm kids. Anyway. Had a 1974 Honda 550 the future Mrs. and I rode while we dated. Also had a 74 125 Elsinore that I did Motocross in 1975. Nearly hurt myself a couple times showing off to my future bride. But she sure did dig the dirt bikes. Even had her on my my first bike. A 72 Honda 125 dirt bike. She loved it.

This was when I knew I couldn’t let this one get away. 45 years later (including 4 years of dating) it would appear I succeeded.

Our mutual friend, and my bandmate, Leedspool is out of country and back home in England for a visit right now. I will let all of you know that he was a Motorcycle mechanic back in his younger days in England. He does still ride here in Canada, though I have never seen the bike. It is a Japanese cruiser of some sort. Kawi Vulcan, Honda ACE,...…..I don't remember!

Just as I remember her.
Ive owned -- A poop TON of bikes almost all (normal makes and models-- nothing ultra spendy or overly ITALIAN) --though a Duck and a Goose are ON MY WISH LIST if I hit the lottery---however I told you that to tell you this---
WHEN -- I first turned over teh Triumph Triple (in a 2000 Speed Triple) -- I was ruined for all other bikes
1. I had NEVER owned a triple
2. -- the sound was GLORIOUS
3/ the low end torque WITH top end scream -- is truly IMHO -- after 40 years of riding-- it is the ULTIMATE balance of 2 and 4 cylinder machines--

Triumph --- has "nailed" it

when I bought the Triumph Speed 3 I had a Suzuki twin cruiser-- a BMW enduro-- a Suzuki Katana 750 "sport" bike -----they all got sold off--
