Do you guys put a lil solder on the wire before the actual joining event ? or is it better to flow it all?

Do you guys remember those wire wrapping tools back in the late 70s/early 80s? Maybe we could find one for Adrian, or a roll of electrical tape. He could just stick all of the connections together.

For stranded wire I always tin first. Just enough to bind the strands.
Gotta watch you dont put too much as it can blob and increase the overall diameter and can make it harder to get into the tube socket tabs, mostly on the nine pin ones.
I tin then bend into a hook, but it though the hole on sockets, pots, etc., and crimp the hook down for good joint contact, then solder.

Stew Mac has a lot of great stuff but I find them to be really pricey.

All the kits are over $100.00. I think a kit should be half that. I enjoy soldering, but I'm doing that work. All they're doing is sending me a bunch of components and an unfinished case. Sorry, just my typical rant.

Agreed-- 50.00 would make more "sense" -- even though you can buy new and used clones of the same pedals (which is all your really creating anyway a COPY of ) for even less online or from craigslist....

thats time I could spend PLAYING guitar-- or finding where the Giraffe got off to .....
